1968 Retaining stud & nut for hood light

Neil, You are correct the NPD kit is only nuts. I must have gotten them from AMK their kit # is F-221 $20.00. I think their minimum order is $30.00. Marty

1968 Retaining stud & nut for hood light

PM me your name and address and I'll just send them to you. BTW the studs do just thread in to the body. They should have paint on them as the housing was painted off the hood. No paint on the nut. Marty

1968 Retaining stud & nut for hood light

Yep that is what I thought you needed. I have some used ones and NPD sell them. Just a 8 32 1 inch stud and a fiber lock nut. BTW did you know most San Jose cars turn signal housings were zinc dichromate plated. Often if you remove the nuts holding them you can still see the gold zinc...

Can you post a picture so I am sure I understand what you need. I most likely have nuts and studs. Marty

    1968 Welded Shock Towers

Kerry I agree with you that there were often mistakes on the assembly and your car certainly proves that fact. At this point I am pretty certain that Ford intended for all of the J code GT cars to be welded. I have in no way discounted the information that you offered. Some times on these...

    1968 Welded Shock Towers

I am very surprised to hear that Bill's are not welded. With great documentation that it is a GT we can not say that every J code GT will be welded. We will need to list the date codes and plants to see if Ford started welding them at some point during the year. FYI all 67 Shelby's were built...

    1968 Welded Shock Towers

Last weekend a friend who owns a 67 GT350 came down to my shop and his shock towers are not welded. We are headed to Tucson for a MCA national at the end of the month, I'll check some more cars there. BTW Rob did you check out Bill's car when it was in your shop? Marty

    1968 Travelin' Man

We were honored by a visit in 2010 by Bill and Tanner in Lincoln at our all Ford show. Bill's car shows that you can still enjoy driving your car and have a beautiful concours car. They are not all trailer queens. Hope to cross paths some time again Bill. Marty

Hi, Yes, there is a flat spot on the top back of the block just above the top of the bell housing there you should find the VIN. There should be a J in the VIN. Hope this helps. Is this car a GT? If so are the shock towers welded? Marty

    1968 power steering

There were two pump manufacturers Ford and Thompson -Ramo Woodbridge Pump. The Ford pumps were blue. You can tell the difference on the tag the bottom line the second letter is a W for Woodbridge and that pump should be black. I have good luck cleaning with aluminum mag wheel cleaner and a...

    1968 Welded Shock Towers

Kerry it would not have call out HD suspension because that was part of the GT option. HD suspension and the GT optioned cars all used the AU springs. The original owner must have wanted a limited slip axel instead of the 3.25 open that most seem to have. Marty

    1968 Welded Shock Towers

Terry that is just what I would have expected. I do not think the welded shock towers had any thing to do with GTCS and HCS. It was the high performance V8 and GT combination IMO. Rob I have a 67 GTA convertible small block built 11-04-66 and it is not welded. I will try to look for a 67 K...

    1968 Welded Shock Towers

I believe this to be true both with four speeds and automatics. J codes with the GT option also got a nine inch rear axel and heavy duty suspension. Marty

    1968 Leaf Spring engineering numbers

I might add it appears to be only a GT thing as a non GT J code does not have a nine inch rear axel or the welded shock towers. Marty
