    1968 Leaf Spring engineering numbers

Yes Rob we most defiantly have a pattern. Our 68 GT 350 has a J code and welded shock towers and it was built in the Metuchen plant. See how easy it is to catch that concours bug! No worries Rob you will get over it when you hear the HP calling.

    1968 Leaf Spring engineering numbers

That is a exact match to our HCS  I must be blind I did not see it at the bottom of your post. What is the build date of your car? Now to find another AU spring. Another thing I have found that was unusual on our car is the center structure of the shock tower is welded, something only...

    1968 Clutch Information

You may look in to a hydraulic clutch, it requires less effort. I have a friend who had good luck with a Center Force clutch. But what would a concours guy know, I would ask Rob our modification expert.

    Had Enough

The winter here in the Midwest has not been too bad. I feel for you guys in the northeast with the record snow fall. I have heard that the record cold has even reached south Florida. From what I understand there have been sightings on the beach of girls wearing flannel thongs. :) Stay warm...

    1968 Leaf Spring engineering numbers

Thanks Arlie we will see, I would hate to put you to all of that work. Rob if the springs are original I bet they are AM or AR. As I said above there are many different spring combinations especially on the front coils where model, engine and options all played a part. I will post a page from...

    1968 Leaf Spring engineering numbers

Thanks Arlie the AT is one of the ones listed in the Ford Master Parts list for a 68 coupe with a J code. Did you find any color bands and is the car a GT? I am working on dads HCS GT J code. It had a AM on the left and a AU on the right. The car was rolled by the LH rear wheel hitting a curb...

    1968 Leaf Spring engineering numbers

Does anyone have a 68 J code GT that has the original leaf springs? I am looking for the correct engineering numbers and color bands. I believe the number may be C7 ZA 5556 AU and the color bands on the short spring are orange and pink. Thank for your help. Marty

1968 Finally getting my HCS on the road again! - Startup procedure

Jon I actually misread your post. Mine is exactly as the diagram and it operates perfectly. But every thing has been restored. If authenticity is not important to you Rob is correct the are way to make it run more efficiently. In 1968 Ford was working to cut emissions. With todays technology's...

That 968 would be a rotation number and that had nothing to do with how many GTCS's were built. Marty

    1968 Frame Damage

I live in snow country and you get the car buried in the ditch and hook a log chain on and jerk it out with a four wheel drive truck it can do that kind of damage. The HCS that I am working on was worse than that. It took a whole afternoon to straiten them out.

    1968 Hawaiian GT/CS

Ok I really messed this one up the dealer number that I gave was from a different GTCS. Dads Marti report does not list the dealer but on page #2 of this thread there is a picture of the warrantee card for dad's car and the dealer # on it is 72200. I do not know why it was left off the Marti...
