It's a common problem on 68's and I assume other years. There was a thread here and on the Vintage Mustang Forum site as well on this topic. I find that certain gas stations are better than others. Definitely pump at a slower speed and always keep a small towel in the trunk to place down...

Definitely a good end to the story. The only thing that gets me though is that she is planning on selling the car right? So she is going to make out OK on the deal. Shouldn't she have sold the car to him for a good deal?

Those are Shelby posts (square). The regular posts are available from Bob Teets. My 289 came with the square Shelby posts and I got a set of correct posts from Bob.
