    MCA Nationals - Springfield

Great attitude!! Especially the paragraphs I quoted above. I'm in the same place as you. But everyone is different. It's all about what's important to the individual and what they want their car to be. I respect the people that want their concours cars and don't want to drive them. I give them...

    Engine Tag Question

Hi Scott, I assume you meant to say if it's 7LXX I'm in good shape right? Well I checked it out tonight and sure enough it is 7L20? I think the last code is a U. There is a chip right on that last letter of the code. (See attached picture) From what I have read, that last character...

    Engine Tag Question

Hi Scott, Good point - I understand what you mean. I don't know the assembly date on the engine. I'll have to check that out. I'm not sure where the assembly date is stamped on the engine but I'm sure I can find that out. Unless someone knows off hand (hint hint... )

It's a great looking car and the absolute "PERFECT" color    It's impressive to see the original pictures pre-restoration and what you guys did to bring it back to life. The awards you get are a reflection of all that hard work and time. Congrats on being the June...

    Engine Tag Question

Hi Casey, Is this the thread you mean? http://www.californiaspecial.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1451&highlight=engine+tag I started with that one. I thought about the strike as a factor too so that's interesting and could explain the 4 month lag time. The location of the tag seems to...

I found a few threads discussing Engine Tags but I have a specific question. I was looking over the numbers on my 289 Automatic CS and I was trying to decode my Engine Tag (see attached). The tag has the following information. 289 E 68 16 L20 K 236-J I have decoded this to mean the...

    Engine Pics Request

Hi Everyone! Thanks for all the feedback. Russ, I've been using some pictures of your car that you sent me awhile ago of factory markings. A few of those show the engine. I'll check the gallery as well. Paul (PFSlim), I also thought they were supposed to be black as well until I checked...

    Cruisin' USA ...

I don't know if I'd call it cruising in the true sense in this area (about 1 hour north of NY city). But every night of the week there is an organized "cruise" where there is a small to large gathering of cars, music, etc ... In a fairly small area, all within a 1 hour drive there are multiple...

    Bogus E-mail scam, via CS.com

I've gotten a few spams over the past months that seem to be someone getting info from the site. Usually from the public areas of the site. I recently got an email from somone interested in my CS that I had for sale on my old email address that I don't use on this site anymore. My car wasn't...

    Engine Pics Request

Thanks everyone! Great looking engines ... all of them!! What color are the clips on the distributor? Are they natural or black? The MCA rules don't specifically state that. Also - what is the correct color of the hood hinges and hood springs? I think they're supposed to be phosphate? I'm...

    Fog Light Question?????

From what I know from reading Paul's books and this site, is that the recall was due to California regulations, not due to fires. The Marchal Foglights were determined to be unacceptable according to California State regulations. I think they felt they were too bright for street use.
