    Getting ready to paint..

Once you have found a painter that you feel that will deliver the job that you want. It is very important to have a clear understanding as to time line of the work and the payment schedule. 1968 Trunk Lid Bumpers

Our HCS was built 7/16/68 and does not have bumper there. I have judged a lot of 68's and never seen bumpers in that location. Those pads on the metal corners were intended to receive the bumper from the deck lid from above. Marty MCA 38812

    1968 Shock Tower Brackets

The grey is posphate and oil plating. That is only correct if the car was manufactured in Dearborn MI. or Metuchen NJ. . If ithe car was manufactured in San Jose Ca. (as were all GT-CS and HCS )they were painted black. This is one of many small differences between asaembly plants. Marty MCA 38812

1968 My new old red HCS

Today I finally found time to try to start the HCS for the first time. It had not been started in 10 years. We primed the oil pump and retimed the engine. Replace the fuel pump and used a mower can on the fender for a fuel tank. After a few tries we got it started and it ran much better than I...

    1968 Battery

It is best to buy the top and check the fit before you buy the battery. I look for a all black case and remove the stickers that the top does not cover. It really does improve the look in the engine compartment but is still a deduction in the Mustang Club of America. Good Luck Marty
