    1968 Stalls under Load

Exactly what you're describing, but some other things can also cause those problems. Check out this thread. http://www.californiaspecial.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7453&highlight=condenser&page=3 The folks also came up with a number of other things to check.

Are you running points or an electronic ignition? If you're using points the problem may be a faulty condenser.

1966-67 HCS %^&#*! wont start when hot

It has a few advantages over a stationary light. If you have a balancer that has faint markings all you do with the adjustable timing light is mark TDC then turn the knob on the light to whatever advance you want. If you want to set your timing at 6 degrees TDC will point at the pointer when...

Neil, The car you're restoring had the coil wire going through the resistor wire and an additional resistor on the firewall. That bugger did not like to start or run well until I bypassed those items, then it ran quite well.

IMO use original Ford parts whenever possible, even if you need to rebuild them.

Did you bypass the resistor wire? Do you have 14 volts at the coil? One of my previous cars with Pertronix wouldn't start when it was hot and the problem ended up being inadequate voltage going to the coil.

    1968 New Guy Hello

if you are trying to turn a profit on the car I think your time may be better spent restoring something else, but if you want a seriously cool car and the family history is important to you it looks like a keeper. My concern is obviously with the considerable damage to the front of the car...
