Aaaargh, the timing just sucks. Some of you understand!!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/California-Special-Mustang_W0QQitemZ270207661436QQihZ017QQcategoryZ6236QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

LIM KLR Any "Bloom County" fans out there?

Yep. Looks like '67 door panels and window cranks, too. This car was listed a few months ago. I wonder if the price is the same. Found it. http://www.californiaspecial.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5096&highlight=mexico

This is an interesting use for the trunk filler panels. Won't that become a moisture trap? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-Ford-Mustang-Coupe-W-302_W0QQitemZ360017975112QQihZ023QQcategoryZ6236QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This car is up for auction again. Also on craigs list. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Mustang-MUSTANG-CALIFORNIA-SPECIAL-GT_W0QQitemZ150210359328QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item150210359328 http://boise.craigslist.org/car/551615461.html

These are the correct covers. There's almost always a set on eBay for around $120. I think repros are being made but can't swear to that. In fact, the ones on eBay may even be repros.

Be careful with those black-backed lights since they are not the correct lights for a GT/CS or HCS. Those lights are from the late '70s and they are driving lights (clear lenses) instead of fog lights. I'm also pretty sure that they will not thread into the special GT/CS...

The door tag calls for seafoam green but it sure looks like lime gold to me.

I know of only 2 magazines with a GT/CS or HCS on the cover. February 2006 Mustang Time (Casey's car) and April 1990 Mustang Monthly. Both are gold cars. Does anyone know of any others?

IIRC the recessed gas cap is OK, and is quite rare. Paul may need to fill in the details but there was a thread here quite a while ago about some early tail light panels that caused the recessed gas cap.

The ad says that the exterior color is brown. Could this be an elusive Pebble Beige car? ETA: Nope, a "U" color code is Tahoe Turquoise.

Yep. Or it can also be CS for California Special. Get 2 for 1 that way.

I'm thinking of getting MDLFCS. It's probably a difficult one to figure out. Anyone over 40 should understand.

Left out a page. Rich was paying attention!

Thanks for explaining that Joe. I've never been to a BJ auction so I knew there had to be a connection I wasn't making.

Maybe I just don't understand how BJ works, but how would the fact that various people are on stage convince people to bid higher? I understand that the original owner being there would prove chain of ownership but I seem to be missing the point of the other two.

There were 76 X-codes and they were all automatics

Doug's red 390 is in the 2007 Mustangs Milestones by Mustangs & Ford Trader. It looks like they used old pictures from when it was restored a few years ago.

Does anyone know exactly what dates we are talking about? I plan on taking another road trip to Eastern Washington (Omak) this summer so if the timing works I could head over the mountains for a few days. My usual route is over Snoqualmie and Blewitt but I may catch the North Cascades Highway...
