Mailer: What would you like to ask GT/CS Owners?

Paul, I know we spoke of these items before in posts but I didn't see them listed. 1. Rubber grommets at hood blinker wire insertion points. (I think we have concluded that they were not original) 2. Correct placement of the CS scripts. Right side/Left side 3. Marchalls 653 or 656 4...

    Mustang Wiring

One of the first things to tackle when I get my car back is the wiring. I have purchased a complete Painless kit and will be adding a cruise control and A/C to the car. I also have a Mallory electronic ignition distributor. I have a lot of patience and some limited electrical know how but this...

    idler arm

Doug, They shouldn't mess with you at all. Wipe the grease off, wrap them in plastic, pack them in a thick cardboard box and then check them as baggage. I think the max weight at the moment is 50 lbs but you might want to check that number with the airline your using. With the box they might...

    Lowering my front end

You can also cut the springs if your not concerned with keeping them original. If you do so, cut a little bit at a time and re-check the ride hieght until it looks right. It is easy to cut too much if your not patient. For the record I also bought 1" lowering springs for my car. They really...

    Rearend Swap

Here is a list of 9" rear end sizes. Something else to consider is that late model rims have a lot of back spacing and can use a wider rear end. I used a 1972 Mustang rear end for my car. I will be running a late model rim with a 275 series tire on the rear.

    Picking it up!

I received a call regarding that coating. They don't recommend it. The rep told me that if the car got wet and it didn't completely wash off the coating it would not come off easily basically damaging the finish. He also said they don't recommend it sitting in the sun either. He also said on...

    Fuel Sending Unit

A little off subject, should one (that would be me) replace the instrument voltage regulator if he's renewing the wiring system and the instrument cluster is out of the car? I don't know if it's good or bad condition.

    Picking it up!

Thanks for the info, http://www.sherwin-automotive.com/media/pds/English/5708.pdf $26/gallon In the removal instructions it says "do not let vehicle dry once removal process has begun". That statement scares me. It's very possible I could be driving through rain on the way. I sent Sherwin...

    Gold J-Code Convert Tribute

I copied this quote from the ad "YES, WHEN YOU TURN THE FOG LIGHTS ON, THE TAIL LIGHTS "LIGHT UP" AS THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO ON A REAL GT CAR. " Is this true? I've never heard this spoken of before.

    How Long?

I know open question. I am now in month 36 with my resto and just got to wondering. How long did it take Ford to make a 1968 GT/CS back in 1968 ? I don't know how long it took to build a standard edition Mustang. But then the CS would have taken some additional time to pull it off the line and...

Original Owner Red on Red CS on eBay

The smoke coming out the exhaust with the oil splattered on the ground behind the car would bother me as a prospective buyer. Need engine work for sure. The only way I see that spray happening is the owner was revving the engine for some reason. (Maybe to keep it running?)

    Inspecting eBay cars

If the aucton is "on the line" the seller should welcome you to come and inspect the car. Asking to put it on the lift should not be an issue unless the seller is hiding sonmething or time constraints in shedules prohibit it. Barring anything else, bring a set of ramps with you.

Here's a photo of my blower motor, non-restored 289 non A/C. It appears to be satin black. I can't see any evidence that this blower was ever taken apart or repainted. Cheers

    Picking it up!

Thought I would post an update. I was very dissappointed when I went to get the car. I ended up leaving it in Amarillo. The Alcapulco Blue looks awesome on the car but the paint job had issues that needed to be resolved. I will let you know how it all worked out and post photos when I have a...

    Picking it up!

Shaun, I used a MPB disc/drum conversion kit. That is the prop valve that came with the set-up. This valve has a removable spring so it can be used with disc/drum or disc/disc set-ups. Rather than rear discs, I went with 2"x10" drums on the rear.
