    Drive shaft restoration

Looks good - next time (just a thought to go the next step) or before you install it, run a propane or MAP torch over the weld bead at each en to bubble and burn the paint slightly as it would have taken place when the ends were welded to the tube. Should not take much heat Just a thought

    1968 HCS core support markings

Yes we just found out the other day that the number was the installers number(discussed over on that other site ;). One of the installers visited the shop the other day and we got that (as well as the process) from him.

1968 What has been the hardest part to get for your GT/CS ?

Of course that discussion related to Shelby built vehicles and the plants the base cars were built at ;)

    1968 Detailing

Gary we would need more information before suggesting marking colors What trans, AC or non AC, GT or non GT,?? Seen most rear springs marked on the short leaf behind the rear end location on later 68 San Jose Would steer away from the "1964 1/2 - 1973 Mustang Detailing Guide (K.A. Helms...

    1968 Build Sheet Found

Not sure I would classify it as a "whim" anymore than any other action an employee chooses to do while at work. Each can choose to do what they are told or not - fortunately (unlike others) this one would not change the usability of the vehicle ;) San Jose employees IMHO in general (have met...

    1968 Build Sheet Found

I believe it had to do with the way the plant handled marking the individual subassembles (example seats in this case) At all the plants dozens of these things were printed. A couple went to the assembly line and were often attached to the car (where, how and if depended on the plant and year)...

    1968 Painting questions

If your doing the whole "as original" thing consider the following Painted on the car with exterior color (so all mounting hardware got covered) Doors, trunk lid, end cars (space reward approx 1/4") and rear valance (hung straight down with two screws and rear bumper guard brackets installed)...

    1968 Deck lid paint

Wow - sorry you don't attend much just because of a single issue. Not like that is going to make or break a car by itself Unfortunately its difficult or impossible to tell if the hole in your fender is original or something a PO messed with

. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

No mention in the book as for assembly patterns - don't think we've gotten that clearly (cars intermixed with "regular cars" or built in bunches) Given that these cars likely required more time than others its hard to tell which way they went but will ask (hopefully someone will have a clear...

. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

Ok, so we don't have reported Cal Specials with the same sequential numbers as ones built at Dearborn. Its just that the number is out of sequence with what Kevin found is the general range of VIN's produced within certain months Believe the VIN spreads by month are a general statement rather...

Interesting job an application of skills - sure this will help develop a list of corrections posted on line. Think there was one already started. Agree with Marty - great job to have but basically the same one we all have, if we choose to - you just get paid for it LOL We changed over to all...

    1968 Smog Tubes

Wow - that was a pretty strong and direct hit. Seen worst but not good Of course not completely correcting this will effect the selling of the car later if you purchased it Style - yes its a 4300. Would have to see the carb number to be sure if its the correct one for the application

1968 Dealer Options in 68 & Where to look for rust

I've seen a number of 68's with the "5" on the door tag (The Mustang Production Guide shows dozens of examples) The same code (but for the taillight panel "black" out (was really a dark gray) was used in 67

    1968 Smog Tubes

Typically see the "tree" style on 68s and the single connection on 67 internal style systems

Yes IMHO with the landscape layout of the book/cover the letters are off set. Much better IMHO than if they were centered
