68 C code GT/CS front spring paint marks

Somewhere around the start of 70 production. ;)

    1968 What does "Ambris" mean?

As mentioned yes the red Yellow stripes on the front spring are original to the springs. Sometimes you will find an additional white stripe that would indicated that the springs tested over or under the rating for those specific springs AMBRIS is one of the last names of one of the regular...

    1968 Trunk resto

Mike the tanks were not galvanized but terne metal a different process to treat the metal

    1968 Owners Manual

The two different colored owners manuals in 68 are both correct but it depends on when your car was built/delivered. Since this is a Calif Special site then only the later version would likely have been with the car. Differences include warranty changes trailer towing information and the...

Shock Tower shock mount correct color?

Originally they would have been painted semigloss black- if they were not deducted for it at a MCA show the judge made a mistake. It's possible that the judge was more use to other cars and didn't check the door tag :(

1966-67 HCS New 67 Ski Country Special owner

Ouch - feel your pain. Might want to consider doing the data cloud. $55 annual covers all of my pictures and allot of files (somewhere around 300,000 of both) Considered the fact that my backed up disc and hard drives were all in the same location (too much of a pain to back up everyweek/month...

    Rear axle blue paint mark

Then some yellow was not for orientation but it seems - just so workers could see the part quickly is dimmer locations - one example would be motor mounts on some cars ;)

    Rear axle blue paint mark

Mike - when I was at your place long ago that J code coupe that was on the trailer in your driveway had a blue mark in the center of the drivers side axle (28 spline) Have not see this that often - have also seen some with yellow on the passenger axle (again 28 spline) in the center recess

    J-code snorkle

It would depend on what the organization's rules stated or what the judges were expecting. Can always document what you choose and your reasons and present that before the judging begins and hope they accept your choose.

1968 Tail Panel Markings and Fabrication Detail

Number is too high (too many digits) for a plant rotation number - maybe the guy messed up and added an extra 3 or 1 :( If the car is original - you might want to check for one of the rotation number from the car and see what matches if anything Ours did also ;)

1968 New wiring harness for CS

Just replaced my sockets (71 Cougar but pretty much the same thing - three wire sockets in a plastic frame) - but of course the wiring colors do not match the originals :( If you you want a good product I'm sure what Pete will have available will be A+ as usual

1968 Trans and Rear VIN Location

Trans VIN is on a small pad on top of the trans about 6" forward of where the tail shaft housing attaches No VIN was placed on the rear end of the car

    Orange Pumpkins

I take it that all of these are taken of other peoples cars - as mentioned by Marty be very careful using other cars from other plants or years (even months off) as examples. I would add to this restored cars also since everyone is someone's interpretation of what they borrowed from someone...

    1968 Recomended inspection company

No Thermactor to worry about - you'll have fun with things like the snorkel, heat shield and such but no smog pump, hoses and tubes to get in the way ;) Think you would be better served by using someone that know these cars and all the ins and outs of them rather than the typical inspection...

    . Factory Assembly Line Photos

Sorry for any difficulty the system is the one that is provided for security with the program that runs the site. As mentioned just pick another image till one appears clearer to you. I've never run the audio option to listen to the voices ;)

. Who is planning on attending the June Gathering?

Neil I think I would shop prices (can vary a fair amount) at all 4 possible airports. All are a fairly short drive to the show location. As for the gathering would be interested but always difficult to get away from my duties. We'll see how it goes

1968 Reserved spot with my body guy

Looks nice - now the real fun begins :icon_ecst Love that color If your going for the concours look remember that all the rear valance screws were unpainted except for two originally

    Drive shaft restoration

Fully understand and we're always finding out something new. Guess that is what keeps it a challenge and fun. And yes you have a full case of the concours bug ;)
