    emergency!

Well, then just get a 3-speed and take it easy with it. They're not that weak. They'll hold up if you don't abuse them. In the eyes of a collector, I doubt that there would be any difference between a C4 and a T5 -- they're both incorrect for your car. The T5 may require some shifter hole...

    emergency!

Brandon, Just live with the C4 for now and save up for the T5. You can get it a little cheaper than $2000 if you source your own T5 (like from a junkyard) and just buy the conversion parts from a place like Modern Driveline. -Winston

    emergency!

I disagree... ... put in a Tremec T-5 (5-speed manual like in modern 'Stangs, for those of you who don't know). You'll be VERY happy with that. I've heard lots of excellent reviews from folks who've had that done in their classic Mustangs. Of course, it's not cheap. The whole kit will run you...

Most Recent Issue of "Musangs and Fords"

Okay, I went to the CPI website and -- lo and behold -- the text that I got (and modified slightly) for judging condition is the same on the CPI's text! Mustang Monthly must've lifted it for their 1998 Price Guide (which is where I got the text). Anyway, now we know for sure how to get on the...

Thanks for pulling up those numbers from eBay, Deadstang -- that's what I'm seeing, too. TraderOnline (a.k.a. AutoTrader) is little indication of actual value. The asking prices in there are very overpriced, and you don't see the actual sales price. It was mentioned that maybe the average sale...

Most Recent Issue of "Musangs and Fords"

I'm all for the GT/CS becoming more valuable. However, in about a year of watching eBay (among other places) and recording sale prices, I've yet to see the kind of numbers M&F published. I don't know where they got them, but I'm very skeptical of them. Jeff Ford is a standout in the field for...

Most Recent Issue of "Musangs and Fords"

That's exactly my point. If you and I won't pay those prices, neither will other people. Therefore, I don't believe that those prices are a true reflection of the national marketplace. Oh, there may be the occasional guy or gal who pays too much and buys one at that price, but that's the...

Most Recent Issue of "Musangs and Fords"

In my opinion those prices are a bit inflated -- as are the values in most price guides published on a large scale. Most dealers (in general -- cars, coins, baseball cards, etc.) sell at a percentage of the value published in a major price guide. They buy at an even lower percentage of the...

    GT/CS Convertible on eBay - a Convertible?

Fake, fake, fake. GT/CS's were coupes only. HCS's were coupes only in '68, but could have been anything in '66-'67. -Winston

Check out this new "front spoiler/air dam" for a 68

Makes it look like a BMW. Not a bad thing in and of itself, but it's NOT a BMW -- therefore it's bad. -Winston

    GT/CS for SALE

True, but "convertible" is a body style, and generally not considered to be an option. -Winston

    Fav color for a car

I thought that I would add that my wife's favorite Mustang color is Emberglo ('66). I like that color a lot, too. -Winston

    Fav color for a car

I'm also a fan of dark blues (Oxford Blue, for example). Midnight blue is a little dark for my tastes, however. The nice thing dark blue on a car is that it's light enough to hide flaws (unlike black), but dark enough so that reflections dance across it when it's buffed (like black). -Winston

Fired up the CS today--at long last! (long)

Deadstang, congrats on your progress! Firing the engine after it sits for a long time is a great feeling. Cesar, great job on getting your car on the road. The interior is probably the cheapest job left, so long as you don't mind using those reproduction kits. For around $500 you can have an...

Went to the Houston MCA show today

All I have to say is wow! :o There were some *very nice* cars there. One GT/CS (maroon with original Marchals and a black vinyl top) and one HCS. The GT/CS was very nice, but I never saw the owner so I didn't get a chance to chat. The HCS was a 7x,xxx mile original car!!! It was quite...
