    1968 Neil Hoppe

Neil was an icon of our community, our "Dad". He'll be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers go out for him and his family. Steve

    1968 Engine Question

When did they get rid of the PCV pipe that vented to atmosphere? Could the bolt hole be to hold the bottom of the pipe? Steve

1968 Checklist for initial start of a rebuilt engine

Jon, if you used a flat tappet cam, make sure your break in oil has ZDDP in it, or get an additive. I run the engine at 2500 rpm for 30 minutes. Does your thermostat have a small bleed hole in it? This will help in getting the air pockets out. Watch your transmission fluid level closely. If you...

    Another Bad Idea?

I think that's what you would call "imminent failure".

    1968 Oval air cleaner question

I believe that would go between the carburetor and the air cleaner, to raise it up if needed to clear an HEI distributor.

For Sale Highland Green GT/CS J-Code Project $15,000

It just sits. I was going to have someone do the rust repair on the Fairlane while I worked on the Boss, but the guy backed out, said it was too big of a job for him. New plan is finish the Fairlane, rewire the Tiger, then restore the Boss.

For Sale Highland Green GT/CS J-Code Project $15,000

You almost had me Arlie! ;) I saw this and thought "Dang, I was just in the Seattle area helping out the kid". Gotta stay focused though on putting his '69 Fairlane convertible back together. Steve

Depending on what the casting number of the head is, it might designate that it's a GT-40 head.

    Labor Day

:giggle: Sometimes I really miss the days when moving meant loading everything you owned in the back of a friends pickup and driving away.

    Labor Day

There's one here in Spirit Lake today that I'm going to. No car entered due to unfortunate shop positioning, but we'll walk through and admire other peoples efforts. (The Tiger is under the hoist with the Fairlane on a rotisserie behind it. Can't move the Fairlane because my tractor with the...

    AGING

I know how you feel Dad. Ever once in a while I find myself starting to think it's better to pay someone else to do some projects instead of doing it myself. Steve

I found this GT / CS and need some help

From the pics, it may have rust at the bottom of the doors and the quarter panel to rocker seam. If it's there, the floors probably have rust as well. If they want to sell it, inspect carefully. Rust repair gets expensive in a hurry.

It's been a while, but I thought the plugs for the tail light harness, etc, were behind the drivers front kick panel.

Non factory upgrades - value or devalue??

In the 70's and 80's, when originality was king, using an aftermarket radiator hose was sacrilege. With today's resto-mod craze, almost anything seems to go. With that said, I would only make changes that can easily be changed back, such as the brakes, radiator, carb, that you're talking about...

    1968 Prepping for media blasting

The dealer replacement pumps had FoMoCo stamps, but probably wouldn't have had the 1968 part number like yours. Long ago, you could have a water pump rebuilt, instead of just replacing it. Yours might be original, or the original casting that was rebuilt. Also in the past, auto parts stores sold...
