The winner of these lights is going to be very unhappy when he or she learns that these are not the correct lights for Shelbys and Specials. NOS sets can be bought on eBay, from England, for $150 or so and brand new reproduction chrome-back lights run around $300.

Opps for the buyers, these are the black plastic back housing.....

A question for the experts, what does the designation on the lenses "Foreing Glass" means as opposed to ENGLAND?

Was it to say this was a lamp meant for export, like in the case of the Shelby lamps to the US market? Was it meant to say it was a foreing aftermarket part? or something else? The correct Shelby (and GT CS) lamp should bear what script?

The designation "Foreign Glass" was because in the late 60's early 70's Lucas moved their glass manufacturing out to a company in France. Thus when they produced a lamp that had "Made in England" on it they had to show that the glass was actually made overseas.

Thanks very much for this info.

So the GT/CS era lamp could carry both designation and be concours correct?

I've found that most Mustang people seem to consider the lights with "England" lenses and the small black O-rings (instead of the gray cones) to be the only true concous corrrect lights. The link below is what would be considered a proper lilght. Of course, as we've found with other issues, the Mustang people may be mistaken.

I think what we need to find out is when the switch was made from the black O-rings to the gray cones and from "England" lenses to "Made in England", and "Foreign Glass" lenses.
