Are the 68 GTCS and 65 T-bird Tail Light housings and harnesses exactly the same? Are they interchangeable?

Both the reflective housing and the harness itself?

Thanks, Wallace

Steve,

Just don't know if they can be interchanged. My thought is yes.

I found a 65 T Bird housing and wiring harness and they look exactly the same. The T-bird harness is in better shape as are the housings.

The taillight housings and the wiring on the back of the taillight are direct 65 T-bird parts.

Taillight housing part #: C5SB-13434-B

Note: the wiring from the front of the car to the tail lights is a unique part and one of the parts that can help determine if a car is authentic.

Here are some pictures of the purple tag with part number on my unrestored '68 HCS. The tag says SXr then part number C8ZX-14405-A

Here is a picture of the entire wiring harness and like Jon, I included the tag that was on it. I had the harness re-woven by Rhode Island Wiring Service.
