1966-67 HCS air cleaner "snorkel" adjustment

Hi All,

Is there any adjustment on the air cleaner snorkel - heat riser?

If put mine in the freezer, or the top of a furnace duct, it never moves. The flap stays in the same place no matter what the temp.

I can move the flap by turning the brass adjuster, but the temp doesn't affect the movement. OR, does the unit have to be installed on the air cleaner and have the much hotter exhaust manifold temps working on it?
