Last Friday was my 1st Anniversary of owning my GT/CS. What a great year it's been!
I celebrated over the weekend by attending the American Icons Car Show held at Stewart Airport in New Windsor, NY.
It was a Corvette, Mustang and Viper only show. This was the first year Mustangs were invited and based on the turnout they plan to have Mustangs again next year. A big turnout of new Mustangs and a decent number of older cars despite the threatening weather.
It was a participant voted show. I didn't take home any trophies but had a great time seeing the cars and meeting other owners. Met a guy with a 1966 coupe (6 cylinder) with 23,000 original miles on it and the original interior (except for the carpet). His brother was parked next to me with his 68 390-GT Fastback.
In addition to the car show, since Stewart is also home to the NY Air National Guard, they had a C5 Transport plane on hand. I'm really impressed with these planes. The sheer size and payload is phenomenal. They fly over my house often and you can't miss them. The paint alone on these planes is 2600 lbs! They can get 7 or 8 Huey Helicopters in the cargo bay.
Anyway ... here are some pics from the show. There a few shots of my 96 Convertible as well. http://broadwayblue.photosite.com/2006-06-04AmericanIconsCarShow
