Asked for some info ...

I just sent this dealership an email asking why there aren't any factory hood locks on this "all original" GT/CS. I also asked them if they have a Marti report on the car. We'll see what they reply ...

I think the busted California script adds a sense of originality to the car. Makes me wonder if the other side is busted too.

Got a response from the dealer today ...?

Got a response back from the dealer about this Mustang that is listed for sale on their car lot. (Another individual that needs to go back to school and retake English 11 & 12?) He makes some interesting comments!

Hello Allen

This is Matteo at Darryl's Best Buys. You emailed me on the 1968 Mustang California Special coupe. This car is all there, all original, stock from 1968. You were concerned about the hood pins. The lady that had it from new, has it was explained to me, did not want them so Ford took them out for her. On the hood there are spots on the under side to put them in if you would like, or we can arrange that for you. I am sending pictures for your review and please note that I have also sending you the vin # below. Please call me or email and we can talk more about the car. If you would like an appraisal I can arrange that for you as we do know a person that has been appraising for over 25 years. Looking forward to talking to you. I have sent pictures of were the pins would go on the hood from the under side.

The dealer welded up the hood holes. That's amazing.

What is with the edge of the door, near the scoop?

Interesting, you don't see too many Mustangs sporting the small hubcaps and body color painted steel wheels.

I wonder if it has a Canadian DSO? or if it was imported to Canada.

Wow that is a first, but I guess if someone looked at it as two additional things you had to do to get the hood open you could potentially see it as a pain?

My mother bought one brand new here in B.C Small hubcaps and body color painted steel wheels. It was a J Code Highland Green single exhaust car with a factory four barrel carb.

What I find incredibly interesting is that the hood has a "Ambris" stamp - which is apparently the name of the paint inspector. I have the same on one of my front fender extension / headlight buckets. Exact same color stamp too.

Jon (administrator) , I think you were cataloguing this info so maybe out that one away in your book of interesting info. I had a previous posting what the "Ambris" was.

Can't believe that I am quoting myself.:lipsseal:

Self, I said, that isn't the air cleaner found on 289 1968 Mustangs sent to Canada.
Duh! They did not have the IMCO emissions yet, in Canada.
