Brake Caliper Problem

Spent most of today installing front bearings, rotors, pads, and calipers. One of the new calipers is extended so I can't install it over the rotor. Does anyone know if I can just compress the caliper and install it or is the fact that it is extended mean there is something wrong with it?

You should be able to just simply compress it back down and install it without any problem. It may have gotten that way from testing before they packed it for shipment. I've had that happen to me before also.

I agree. I use a large C clamp to compress mine after I rebuild them. Just go slow, make sure you're centered and if you feel any binding, stop.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a shot tomorrow after the Funeral Museum golf tournament. Now there's a sentence that has probably never been written before!

There's really a Funeral Museum?
There really is.

If you like old cars there are a lot of old hearses in it. Or, at least, there used to be. I haven't been there in a few years so I'm not sure what's in it now.

That was actually invented by a company that owned cemeteries and built mausoleums. Their thinking was that if you are in a mausoleum you will always be above ground so every day will be a good day.

We bought them, kept the cemeteries and the motto, but sold the mausoleum construction portion. Some times I wish we hadn't kept the motto.
