Brake Lines

Got the brakes put together and bled on Sunday but the front driver's side caliper is not getting any fluid to it. That would certainly explain why it pulls to the right!

When we bled the passenger front line I got this rusty, watery, awful-looking, stuff out of the line so I assume the other side is filled with the same junk. The rears bled out with fairly clean looking fluid. Well, at least what came out of the rears looked something like brake fluid instead of the brown water that came out of the fronts.

I assume whatever junk was in the right side is clogging the left side somewhere. My guess is the distribution block. My plan is to immediately replace the master cylinder, dist block, and the left front lines. Eventually I'll probably replace all the lines.

I've run into a slight purchasing problem in that I can't find the distribution block anywhere. There are '67 blocks for sale but no one seems to have '68s. Is there a difference? NPD has a non-Ford unit for $119 but the note says that the lines must be bent to make it work.

So far this is what I've found.
Master Cylinder - $47 Autozone
Rubber Lines - $65 Paddock (upgrade to braided)
Front Hard Lines - $79 NPD
Distribution Block - $119 NPD - Not original

Does anyone have any advice or sources for this project?

When I restored my car, I took the hard lines completely out and blew them out with an air hose. You could try the same thing with them in the car by disconnecting at the flexible brake line and the distribution block. When I put it back together, I ran fluid out the flex. hose before I hooked it to the caliper to make sure I had any left over "chunks" out of the system.

We replaced all of our lines. Had similar problems. We could not find a dist block either. We tried to rebuid the block, but that didn't work. Finally, we found another used one that we cleaned up and got to work.

We had a really hard time trying to bleed our brakes down. With the addition to power brakes and dealing with bad power brake booster problems, it became a real chore. We finally added a Proportioning Valve under the master brake cyclinder. This seemed to help as well.

One last thing. Once we finally got our brakes fixed, bled, and working, we still had our car pull to the right pretty bad. I took it to the dealership to get a front end alignment and asked them why they thought it would pull so bad. They said they thought I had something in line or a bend that was causing the restriction. As it turned out, it was neither. When we put our new front end on, we left everything loose to align the car. We forgot to tighten everything back up before moving it to the dealership. Once he did the front end alignment and tightened everything up, the car is great.
