I am curious why everyone is so hung up on the fact that the 6 cylinder engine is missing. I've had the opportunity to buy 5 different 1968 6 cylinder engine/transmissions combinations that were removed from 68 Mustangs years ago for use and installation in this car. These engine/transmission combinations are available to me from 3 different sellers here locally in Nashville. The most expensive of the engine transmission combinations is $300.00 and I'll bet a good offer of $100.00 will buy any of the 5 and maybe even 2 of them from one owner who really wants them gone. 6 cylinder engine/transmission combinations here in Tennessee are only worth what the weight at the scrapper. NOBODY wants them!

I personally did not want a 6 cylinder engine and purchased a late model 5.0/5 speed FI engine for the car. I would find it hard to believe that my experience in locating 6 cylinder Mustang engine/transmission combinations cannot be much different anywhere else in the USA. There are STILL lots of rough/junk/parts car 6 cylinder Mustangs sitting in fields and under trees everywhere in the USA so supply is certainly not an issue. Demand may be a big issue since the market for 6 cylinder engine/transmission combinations is and has been zero!

The car has been sold and I am very fortunate that Neil declined my offer since the car sold for a LOT more money to a local enthusiast. Thanks for everyone's comments and Neils interest in the car.

I wish everyone a safe and prosperous 4th of July Holiday!

Well, I've opted not to purchase & take on the C/S T code in TN. Its virtually a ground zero project, at too high of a starting price for what it is (IMHO). I spoke with the owner tonite and declined his offer of $7K, with him retaining the Shelby wheels - which I would have reconditioned & sold in order to recoup part of the purchase price. I had guesstimated the resto costs, and figured it to be $13K+/- plus the cost of the car, and my labor @ zero $, and the only part of the project I would have to outsource would be the paint application (with me doing the grunt work & prep).
With all the talk re: 6 cyl's, I found a site, Fordsix.com that was interesting for 6 cyl enthusiasts.

Life is hard. I guess I'm stuck with my J code, P/S, P/B, A/C, A/T CS.
(Unless aemoo28 will take it off my hands)
Neil

Neil, if you're interested in a T-code I just remembered that I know where there is one, but it is pretty much a basket case. It's the Lime Gold one in Bryan, Texas that we've discussed a few times on this forum. I can send pics if you want them.

I'm not particularly keen for a 6 cyl. I just think the relative rarity of one in a C/S model is unique. I had restored a '68 coupe several years ago, and it was a sweet car. (6 cyl, A/T, P/S, A/C, Candy Apple Red, Red Interior)
My C/S 302 4V suits me fine. Strange though, not many folks in this part of the world know of this model, and can't appreciate the rarity. I enjoy telling the story/history of the C/S - most of which I learned on this site. The only time I had even seen a C/S was 20+ years ago @ an MCA show in Pensacola. Life goes on!!
Glad the sale worked out for Mike. He seems like a good guy.

Neil

P.S. Mike (somethingspecial) & Rob - the trim rings shipped yesterday, UPS.
