here are some pictures showing what my stripes look like.

When i redo the car, im going back to highland green and the stripes will end at the brim of the duck tail spoiler, they will not go over to the back side because i want to put the original CS stripe across the top in the back

IF anyone out there wishes to do Le Mans Stripes up and over their CS, here is some help:

http://forums.stangnet.com/archive/index.php/t-583123.html

and,

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=GT-350+Lemans+Stripe+dimentions

I would go with the 1967 "Super Snake" dimentions, since those are closer to the proportions of a '68 than the standard '65 GT-350 Le Mans stripes.

I think they look cool. I also think that the side stripes will work with the LM stripes together (i.e. "it's OK with the Stripe Police!" LOL!). On the back, either stop just before the "flip" of the spoiler, or break into the rear stripe with about 3/4" gaps on each side, to let the LM "stripes through".....

Getting a look at racing Shelbys, and GT-40s in the 60's will help. Perhaps a Google Image search will provide something.

Sounds great!

Paul N.

I can see other drivers seeing at a distance something unique in the mirror wit hLe Mans stripes....and what they wouldn't know is that it also has a 400hp 347 under the hood. The element of surprise--and curiosity at the same time... UH -OH!

p.s. what would you think if I could get Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) to make CX-1 emblems for the GT/CSs out there with mods? Perhaps ANY modified GT/CS could be part of this "CX-1 movement?" (and I can notate it in the registry?) It would be for '68 as well as '07 and '08, too!!

Or--I could make them (with Galpin's blessing) and sell them to you directly?

Any interest? It would be a dash or fender emblem. Maybe make it fit nicely just under the Mustang script on the decklid?

thanks,
Paul N.

as a side note....here is an ad for two "used" Shelbys in the same newsletter as the post about the CX-1.

As they say...read 'em and weep!

I've been off-line for a while and just got time tonight to check on replies to my original inquiry about lemans stripes.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I still don't know for sure what I'll do, but I'm leaning toward leaving the regular CS rear stripes off and extending the lemans/rally stripes all the way down onto the rear fascia.

Paul, thanks for the links. I like the one that that shows how to properly taper the stripes so it looks right.

I kind of like the idea of a CX-1 decal, but that would just mean that there would be one more thing to explain to the people who ask "Cool car, what is it?".

I'm in on the CX-1 thing too, got some plans for my '08 =)

So...would you be OK with a "CX-1" emblem on your CS, or....since it's a new generation CS, would you prefer "CX-2"?

CX = "California Experimental". Sounds cool.

thanks--Paul N.
