...For the second year now, I have thrown everything I have at competing with Renee in my OWN TOWN at car shows against that blue GT/CS of hers with ZERO success!

Last year, I entered the "shakered" red '69 Mach only to be waxed by her at the annual school charity. This year, I entered the "Red-S" thinking "no problem - She's history"....but NOooo!...

She not only took Second Place in our class (against a loaded-optioned '67 GTA fastback), but also Best of Show for the entire event in all classes!!!

When will I learn?? Do I have to start wearing flowers in MY hair??? Geeze!!! ;-)

'Kidding aside, it was a wonderful day loaded with fun as always :) At one point, Renee and co-driver Carol were invited up to the bandstand to sing "Mustang Sally" real-time. And a great time - it was!! :)

Well, I'm not surprised at all....
The judges surely see the driver of each car, and Renee's a gazillion times better looking than her competition (spelled T-I-M).

...You are so right Neil, but worse yet - I even had to stoop to asking Renee to buy lunch yesterday! 'Spent my last $80.00 in bribes and STILL got nowhere!!

Shh tho... Renee doesn't know that... I just told her I lost my wallet...

Lost your wallet!!! I really believed you. You owe me

Yesterday was so much fun and I was SHOCKED when they called my name for "Best of Show"!! I thought I was hearing it wrong. Tim had to physically give me a push to get me to go up to accept the award. I was just happy to have won 2nd place behind the '67 GTA Fastback again this year.

However, Tim could have easily won 2nd place and I bet the vote was close!! So many people were admiring the red 390 and from where I sat, I saw a lot of votes for his car too!!

Donna, I ran across that stuffed pony at a thrift store one day and had to get it because the bows and stuff matched my car exactly. I get so many comments on that pony and the little kids LOVE it! I do get comments that it is not a "mustang", but I tell them that it is a clydesdale wishing it was a mustang

Over all the whole day was fantastic and I loved getting up with the band to sing. Thank you Tim for being there with me for the day. I know how busy you are with AirFest right now, and that meant a lot to me for you to take the day off!! Here are a couple of shots I took...

P.S. Tim...I don't think you are the "flower in your hair" type! Just doesn't suit you at all!!! :icon_no:

Congrats! Way to go!!!

Just curious ... how did you win best of show and not win 1st in your class? You should have swept it!

Usually Best of Show doesn't get a class award so that's pretty cool that you got both!

Nice!

...Wow the student has surpassed the master!

...Nice of you to think that Robert, but not so... The little known truth is that Renee had already owned for a time and sold three '68 coupes before I met her nearly twenty years ago and she was turning wrenches with her father long before that! It was in conversation about these cars at another friend's birthday party where I really began to know her.

Renee doesn't "show her cards" about her past. She just simply and pleasantly "is". That's partly why she's a natural winner at whatever she does :)

Rich, The person who took first place in our class always wins 1st place. The cars were voted on by the participants and spectators. I guess they just liked my car best. I did have some tough competition though...

That's right Tim. I have loved working on cars since my dad bought a little MG when I was 15. He originally bought it so that him and my brother could restore it, but my brother just wasn't interested in it at all. I kept hanging around the garage while my dad was working on it asking "too darn many questions", until he finally let me help out. It was one of the best times I ever spent with my dad. We really bonded during that time and I miss him terribly!!

Oh, by the way, I had four '68 coupes back then. A little straight 6 three speed, two 289's and a 302. Ended up selling them all and regretting it. I swore one day I would get another, and now I have two of the most beautiful Mustangs I could ever imagine owning!!

...Yes Renee, I should've said "four". You still had one when we met as I spoke with you about buying it for Thomas (our oldest son) back then :)

Amazing when we turn some pages and roll the clock forward to this day, this site and an iconic GT/CS finding the home it did - doing the thing for which it was intended - being beautiful, winning awards while being so loved by its current owner.

Renee, we also want to thank you for the wonderful show board you made for and gave to TJ!

And she misses you brother Rob! Come down in July and drive her to Grass Valley for me :))

Tim,

I still can't believe we have known each other for 20 years! Time flies when you're having fun ;-) You have been a great friend to me and I thank you for your part in me getting my beautiful GT/CS!! Without you, I probably would never have bought her.

Also, I'm glad TJ likes the showboard I made him. I had a lot of fun putting it together and trying to capture TJ and his car the way I saw them...
