Hi all,

I am gathering pieces for my interior and I am now focusing on the dash. The dash pad needs replacing, but the dash panel doesn't look too bad. The silver is worn off the trim and around the instrument gauges. So what have you guys done? I've seen the replacement parts in various catalogs, or are the pieces referbishable?

From what I've heard www.mrgusa.com can rechrome yours. Some of the chrome on the repro stuff can tend to be a little iffy so inspect closely if you go that route. Do you care if it's repro or Ford? Are you looking for wood grain or black?

If you want bright shiny original looking chrome plating then you have two options.
Rechrome or aftermarket.
If you want to stay as original as possible rechrome. Jason sent his parts to have them rechromed and they did a great job and were really reasonable.
Jason?

I used aftermarket and it looks great too. My original was pretty shot.

I would suggest sending the originals into Mr. G's to have rechromed. Repo bezels cost roughly $50 and Mr. G's costs about $60-70. I know I would rather have a Ford part that has been rechromed compared to a foreign made repro. They can also do the other trim pieces and the chrome part around the middle of your steering wheel. You might be able to find a NOS bezel on Ebay for about $150-200 but you have to be patient. I usually keep an eye out for NOS bezels (I keep one in reserve).

take a look at Mr. g's website and send your stuff in.

Thanks all. I wasn't even sure it was chrome or something else. I do want to keep everything as original as possible. It's a basic, no frills interior, all black so it should be easy. Anyone have a steering wheel and pad? I watch ebay but nothing decent has come up in a while. I ws outbid the last time for one that went for $250. Repros are SO expensive. I'm sure I'll have more questions as the process goes.

Sara, I have an extra. I bought it for the woodgrain insert and have no use for the pad or wheel. If you'd like I can take a picture of it this weekend and send it to you. Since I'm looking to get that kind of big stuff out of my garage I'll make you a great deal!

We did not have original, thus had to buy aftermarket. Dash pieces are just like everything else, they don't fit as good as the originals. Thus, if I had my choice, I would have installed originals.
