The book will likely never be revised as the author gave the records to a museum, locked them up, and moved on.
And as copyrighted material it can not just be copied to the webernet. (Well it "could"... as in this day and age the concept of intellectual property and copyright is lost on many)
In reality there is no way to tell how many (of any older mass produced car) exist. Since the book was published some have probably been crashed, many existing cars were probably never listed, and many listed cars were basket cases reported by VIN.
The number will never be known. Assume 2000 and you are likely high, but in the ballpark.
