Greetings
I have been getting the best education on California Special's here for about a year. One of the reasons I havnt posted is that my car is a look-a-like. I wouldn't even call it a clone. I dont want to encroach on a group of people that have a specefic Forum.
I just bought these Lights on Ebay. Item # 300457800288. I would post a link but I am new here and am not allowed yet.
They are in good condition. They look better than the pictures on ebay. They do have some fine scratches.
I have a couple questions.
What is the best way to polish the stainless housing?
Are they plated? They appear to be solid stainless.
The lens is sealed to the inner reflector housing. I know better than too pry on the edge of the glass to seperate the lens.
Is there trick to seperating the lens or are they perminantly sealed ?
One of the lenses in a little cloudy on the inside. It appears to be a light film. I thought about pouring a little glass cleaner in there and rinsing it out.
As you can see I paid a small fortune for these lights. The way I found this Forum was doing a search for Lucas lights.I did some reading here and seen that they were hard to find.
Thanks Mike

Mike,

The housings are actually chrome so you can use chrome polish on them. Just be sure you don't polish through the chrome.

The lenses are sealed to the housings with plain old household window putty so you can separate them by SLOWLY pulling them apart, then replace the putty or use some caulking.

If you scratch, bend, or break anything just shoot me a note with what you need and if I have an extra I'll send it to you.

Arlie

Doug, your lens cover will go in the mail this weekend.

Great answers. I'll go light on the chrome polish. They look pretty good. When mounted I dont think the scratches will show.
I'm glad to know I can seperate the lens. I think the one thing that would stick out is the cloudy lens. Mike
