The only thing I can think of, is if it replaces the C/S panel AND the original metal panel that is cut out to accommodate the light assemblies. (??) It might be worth a phone call to the vendor to verify.

Neil is right on IMO. I replaced the complete left quarter on my GT/CS, and I can tell by the flange around the piece that it is made to replace the factory 68 coupe or fastback metal panel for the stock taillight system. Lots of drilling of factor spot welds. I replaced my quarter to include the aft door jam area into the tailight panel and "C" pillar at the factor joints and spot welds. Certainly not stock for a shelby or GT/CS, but what a great item for the restomod market. what will they think of next??

Just a plug for Rebel Mustang and their fiberglass pieces for the GT/CS including the tail light panel. Their stuff is the best I have seen and worked with. Their side scoops are exact copies of the originals. www.rebelmustang.com

I wish that I could work out a deal to carry their items at my store, but I can't get a response from them.

Cheers,

Well, I spoke too soon. I received an email from Steve at Rebel Mustang and he is interested in having me be a dealer for the GT/CS & HCS specific fiberglass parts.

I will let everyone know once we have confirmed everything. I will have one of their side scoops at the Galpin event for everyone to check out. You can't tell the difference between the original and the new.

Cheers,

Ron

I'm glad to hear that Steve called you back ... if you were still having trouble, I was going to offer you that I could contact him, either call him (I have a couple of different numbers for him), or see him (I see him regularly at the Pomona Car Swap Meet) ... Steve is a very knowledgable guy and he carries some of the best quality stuff ... :thumb:

WAY CHEAPER!!!! Big job to remove the old panel and put in a new one. Lots of spot welding and prep work before painting. You will paint the glass panel and just bolt it on. I would only do this on a resto mod/clone car if it had severe damage in the rear panel. Either rust or a big whack in the rear.
