NOS Trunk Bumpers/foam pads

All,

Where do the trunk bumpers mount on 1968 GT/CS? I thought the weather strip was all that was cushioning the trunk lid? My car is about to get painted and I don't recall seeing the trunk bumpers on it.

Also, where would I find the rectangular foam pads that mount underneath the edge of the fiberglass trunk lid?

Thanks, Wally

There are no bumpers on California Specials. Shelbys have them.

Foam cushioning strip

Any idea who makes the small rectangular foam strip mounted on the underside of the trunk lid?

Or what material do I use to reproduce it? Size? Can't find a link because I don't know what they are called?

Thanks, Wally

I used foam insulating tape from Home Depot. Try running a search for “foam tape” on this site.

Hopefully this person is not selling these ORIGINAL (his word not mine) fiberglass parts with the intent of replacing wrecked car with knock off parts and then trying to sell this car to an unsuspecting buyer.

I used some that I got from Ace. 3/4 inch wide by 1/8 inch deep. Black in color which is what I was told on this site is just about right for original appearance.

I once paid $600 for a whole car. Owner was in prison and wife sold the car. Minus motor.
