Seen references to:

Ford 32930

DDL32930

Cast Blast

Charcoal Grey Metallic (interior color AFAIK)

As I had the last two on hand pulled the brackets off a 67 grille, painted with cast Blast, and then a light cost of CGM. The CGM is darker than CB.

How close is the CGM (I have NPD brand and in my experience it comes real close to OEM interior with correct application) to the correct grill color...

????

Removed the standard 68 grille and modified the repro '67 from NPD. Found the grille on the car is a Ford 68 GT one, black-blue-black, fog brackets, and in pretty good condition. Nice score I'll clean up, repaint, and swap onto my 68 S GT that is "almost" done (for the last year or more....)

Anyhow, when looking at the Lucas pedestals on the car they appear original. Some light clean up with methylated spirits to remove grime, and a light scrub with 0000 steel wool...compared them to the grille in CB with a light coat of CGM, pedestals a bit lighter.

Compared them to the grille surrounds with only CB prior to the CGM I was going to use....and the color on the pedestals is almost a dead match to Cast Blast.

I can't be sure they are original but think so.

So how close is Cast Blast to OEM? Anyyone done a known original to CB side-by-side comparison?

Now to source the correct blue for the GT grille... :rolleyes:

Richard;
If you go to the restoration Topic thread, you'll find the grill info you're looking for.

There are many shades of CB paint. For my HCS restoration I found the original paint on the very bottem of the grill where it was hidden from the sun light was very good. I had a paint store make a color match paint and put it in a rattle can. It worked out very well.
I all so did the same thing to get the correct color for the 67 grill. I will attach a picture of the HCS grill. You can PM me if you would like a sample. Marty
Man if my wife see that picture she will stop the progress on the HCS and make me clean up the office!
