I like the way you're thinking Rhonda. My brother and his wife have a 75 acre horse farm outside of town where they raise Missouri Foxtrotters. The farm is also a haven for rescues who need to be nursed back to health. (heartbreaking to see) As a Ford family of horse lovers, our family anti's up every year at this time and donates to the Ford Mustang Rescue fund. A very worthwhile cause.

...You two don't realize what a hot button you've hit here. www.horsedesigns.com , the producer of these items is beyond passionate about preserving the wild Mustangs! She is a consumate 'horse lover' who has long supported those efforts. Should we decide on such a donation, I would want it to be on behalf of californiaspecial.com and with Jons approval however.

Great idea!

Thats wonderful Tim. Its nice to see us all on the same page here. I am a huge animal lover and would like to see the proceeds go to the wild mustangs or something that has to do with saving animals. Maybe some of it could go to PETA or to a fund so people can spay or neuter their pets at a lower cost. This country needs to do something about all the unwanted and suffering cats and dogs out there. I myself, catch wild kittens in a live trap in my neighborhood. I have saved the lives of many already so far by bringing them back from the brink of death from starvation and such, and tame them and find them good homes. People need to spay or neuter their pets. Anyway, whatever you and Jon decide will be fine with me.

Call me a redneck but I wouldn't be interested in helping to fund one of PETA's billboards. Saving wild mustangs, cats or dogs is OK but I think we need to avoid "political" groups just to keep peace in the family. I think it's great that Tim is doing a wonderful thing by donating some of the proceeds of the sales. How about we have him hang onto it until we have the (hoped for) 2008 get together. If we could impose upon him to come up with a new design to commemorate the event and use the money to pay for X number of shirts to give away as door prizes that would be my first vote (since Jon didn't want it for the website).

From what I can tell, the members of this site are a resourceful bunch and would probably insist on purchasing their commemorative t-shirts. I really would like to see the money go to something worthwhile. If you don`t believe in PETA`s policies then leave PETA out of it. There are many groups out there that save animals that it could go to. Or maybe it could go to the tsunami or hurricane relief fund. I would just rather it go to some kind of animal cause. I think the wild mustang fund would be a perfect idea.

...We'll keep it 'Mustang' or GT/CS special event oriented. Absolutely NO PETA or any other political groups! I would only consider a donation directly to a wild Mustang harborer or ranch. Truly, truly no offense Rhonda, but too many 'animal rights' as 'environmental' groups have replaced initial good will with hostile political agendas... 'Want nothing to do with that!

The $ amount we're talking about here would barely dent the daily postage for a group like that. I'd prefer to target more directly. That said; I don't want to create a political thread here, rather take care of our own corner of the world which is all that's asked of us.

Thank you Joe, I'm honored and glad you like it! 'Hope you don't mind that I 'stole' the wheels from your gallery to use as referrence as I didn't have any pics of total-chromed Torque Thrusts... I quietly put 'em back on your car as soon as I was done so you wouldn't notice... 'Glad you weren't driving that day, but if you get a weird vibration - you might want to check the lug nuts ;-)

I'll second Steve, must be an Idaho thing, PETA setting up shop outside of grade schools scaring the crap out of little kids telling them that their daddy was torturing fish when he caught them and hooking rubber fish with big hooks ripping the rubber fish apart using catsup to enhance the trauma on the innocent kids lowered my already sewer low opinion of them.

No PETA donation from me PLEASE!!!!!

You'll get a kick out of this one.

PETA wants a neighboring town here to change their name. They've been trying for at least 10 years.

The town is called Fishkill.

There are number of towns in the area that end in "kill".
Peekskill and Catskill are others.
Kill is a dutch word for stream or channel.

They want them to change the town name to Fishsave or Fishlove.

:thumb: PETA saves animals too. Did anybody know that?:icon_bore That is all that matters. :icon_no: No one should be concerned about how many companies they have rallied against or how many towns they tried to change the name of. People and companies only hate PETA because they have lost money to them. That is my opinion and if anybody wants to argue about it then PM me.:icon_ecst

I love animals and my wife in my humble opinion is as close to an animal activist as you can get, she donates money out the door to animal causes watches Animal Planet 24-7 on the dish and would put her new car in the ditch to avoid running over a mouse on the highway. There are a ton of great animal causes out there that go about it in legitimate and legal ways and I don't have a problem at all with the thousands of dollars she has donated. If she was to even attempt to send those criminals at PETA a single dime we would be parting ways. There's a right way to do things and a wrong way and the reason PETA freaks get arrested all the time is they chose the wrong way.

Here's an interesting read.

I read the link you posted Cory. Its true that a couple of PETA employees took things into their own hands and started killing perfectly adoptable animals. There are always a couple of bad apples in a bunch. They go up for trial in Superior court May of 2006. It will be interesting to see what happens. The link I am posting is what Daphna Nachminovich, PETA`s Director of Domestic animals and wildlife said. It is toward the bottom of the page. Things like this happen in every orginization. Look at what happened to the United Way? PETA is an animal rights group verses an animal rescue group. They believe that all animals, no matter what they are, should not be used for pets, labratory testing, or for food. They do have extreme ideas but ultimately alot of the animals do reap the benefits of the sincere and caring people involved with PETA. The story below shows that PETA had all good intentions.

Looks like they`re putting the word "kill" to some good use there, Rich.

...Suddenly, the title of this thread has taken on a whole new meaning ;-) Just so you know; I did hear from Jon and decided to forward the proceed$ to him for website maintenance for now. Rhonda - I love your conviction, but you really need to read up on PETA and their devastating impact on all our rights while using 'animal rights' only to tug heartstrings of caring supporters like you. The 'bad apples' are from the top down in that group. Get the whole picture...

I'm glad it's going to the website. Moving on, Tim as soon as I get shirt sizes of the grandkids, I'll be ordering a mug and a bunch of shirts. I think you've done a great job and I appreciate your work and generosity.

Yes, the title of this thread has taken on a whole new meaning. Well, I did mention in my above post that it was my opinion and if anybody wanted to argue about it to PM me. I admit I don`t know enough about PETA as I should, but who does? Yes, I do have conviction and I carelessly mentioned giving money to PETA only because I know what the letters P E T A stand for. Go ahead and shoot me for being ignorant. I have all good intentions and I`m sure PETA had all good intentions when it started out. There are bad and greedy people running PETA, just like there are bad and greedy people running the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. But people would rather bitch about it, rather than do something about it. So we are back to square one. Do what you want with the proceeds Tim. I don`t think you really needed our input on it anyway. The wild mustangs are`nt going to miss that amount of money, I`m sure.
