:) I was wondering if my car is in the registry under any other names and if you could give me anymore information on it? I updated my information in the registry, so did that cancel out the first registration or is it in there twice? VIN# 8R01T162217 Thanks

Mustanglvr,
Your car is in the old registry under Morris Horton, but most of the info is missing, it does say under options:
Chrome wheel moldings, console, A/C, Tilt wheel, Remote mirror, Convenince Control.
If this is correct, you have one well optioned I-6.

And yes your registry will cancel out the prior owners (or it should).

I have added my name and car to the registry recently. Could someone check mine out also. I hadn't thought about it before but it may be a way to find and contact the original owner.

Doug,
Thanks for the reply. Is convenience control the same as cruise control? And do you know why isn`t that and the tilt steering listed on my Marti Report? Is the rest of the info really missing or was it just never there? Rhonda

Rhonda,
The convenience control is a set of 4 lights placed in the middle of the dash or the console if you have A/C (which according the the list you do have so your car had to have a console) which display a warning about: low "gas", "door" ajar, parking "brake" on, and seat "belt" off.
As for the listing in the old registry, it only had the VIN number, type of lights, color of stripe, and wheels. And the prior owner may have added tilt steering, that is why it is not listed on the Marti report.

What are the options on the car?

Doug

Thanks Doug,
The options that are listed on the Marti report are
California Special
Three Speed Manual Transmission
6.95x14-4 Ply Rated Tires
White Sidewall Tires
Console
Air Conditioner-Selectaire
AM Radio
Tinted Glass
Remote Control Left Hand Mirror
Wheel Covers
The console or convenience control buttons are not there. The car came with 2 steering wheels, one a standard that is saddle color and the other a black tilt wheel. I`m assuming since the car originally had saddle interior that the steering wheel would have been a saddle color too. But like I said the one I have is a standard wheel. It was changed over from the 200 6 cylinder 3 speed to a 289 V8 4 speed sometime in its life and am I correct that it is a good thing that is has 5 lugs on each wheel? That means the suspension has been upgraded? Anyway, it has everything else that is on the Marti report minus the tires and 3 speed tranny, but not the options you mentioned from the registry. It is too bad the car isn`t all original but I love it just the same. Someday I will get a console back in it and anything else that could have been gotten as an option. That would be cool. It is Highland Green with a white stripe. Also it has no striping on the back spoiler and the bezel around the taillights is painted metallic, like the Shelby. It is a car with history. I guess I`d better get used to it. I had a mechanic look at it and it is a sound car with an old restoration. Thanks, Rhonda

Rhonda,
by what your marti report states you did not have the convienence control on the car, it would say on the report. If you want a console, they come up for sale on ebay all the time for around $150-200 for a driver quality one. And don't worry about the color, you can dye and paint it any color you need. Just a thought if you wanted one.

Doug

One more thing, you are correct about it the suspension swap, if you change from a I6 to a V8 the suspension must be changed, ie 5 lug.

Your car is in the Registry (2nd Book 1996) under Steven Bloomfield with the following codes: J154377, 65A (2 Door Hardtop, Standard Interior), T (Candyapple Red), 2D (Dark Red Vinyl), 29C (29 March 68), 72 (San Jose DSO), 5 (3:00:1 Axle), W (C-4), Lucas Lights, Blue Stripe.
It also shows a note indicating the car had 10 spoke Shelby wheels.

Seems odd that the car would have a blue stripe on Candyapple Red paint but, that's how it is listed in the Registry. Would have thought stripe would be black or white. Hope this info helps.

Don :) Welcome to the GT/CS Registry.

That car is also in the registry (2nd Book 1996) under Steven L. Bloomfield with the following codes: C136341, 65C (2 Door Hardtop, Standard Bench), M (Wimbledon White), 8B (Lt Blue/Dk Blue, Comfortweave Bench), 29A (29 January 68), 72 (San Jose), 2 (2:79:1 Axle), W (C4 Auto), Lucas Lights, White Stripe.
Notes: Shelby 68 - 10 spoke wheels, Currently under restoration, bought for under $1K. Is one of 3 GT/CS cars.

From this information it seems obvious he got the stripes confused when he submitted the info. Blue stripe should be on the Wimbledon White car and the White stripe should be on your Candyapple Red car.

There are plenty of folks here on the site who will be more than happy to help in anyway they can. I have gained a wealth of knowledge about the CS just from the folks here on the site myself. Good luck with your project or should I say projects.

Hi.
Just got what is suppossed to be a 68 HCS, VIN 8R01C169933. Can anyone confirm this? I have ordered the MARTI report but that takes time. The car is suppossed to be in the HCS registry. Any info about/from the previous owner would be appreicated. Thanks.

Barry, I owned your car 15 years ago here in Denver, and it's for sure a HCS. Your car is in my registry and has quite a history. Call me some evening and we will talk. 303-424-3866 hicountry bob Teets here.

Barry,
If Mr. Teets owned your car before, it is definitely special. He is "Mr. HCS" and if you are new to the forum, he is the source! Congratulations!
Richard
