What is the best alternative for shocks on the actual market to get the factory look?

MCA book says shocks should be Ford/Autolite, Black. I'd get KYB's, and paint them black, and take the 2 point penalty if you're in a judged category.

No one reproduces the exact looking shock for these car so you have to get creative.

Find a new shock where the rears ones have the outer sleeve spot welded to the shaft and any standard liquid front shock will look decent for the task (KYB fronts stick out like a big red flag for most of us)

Then strip the paint and any stickers/decals off of the shocks, fill in the markings (if any stamped into the shock itself) and paint them semi-gloss black

This should get you pretty close to the factory look from a couple feet away

Jeff, NPD notes a few Motorcraft/Gabriel shocks they sell as very close, as you note paint SGB, they note thread pitch as an issue... opinon?

Saw some rear ones (painted red or orange) on Ebay. Look decent from the pictures - as long as the size is right once they arrived

Marty (and others) will see you at the Judges Meeting/Training this weekend. Last trip (for MCA) this year - should be fun
