Hi,

I have a little problem with my 68 GT/CS

I don't know what kind of tires to choose ,

I have the original 14x6 argent paint styled steel wheels.
Because i use this car as a daily driver , i do not want to buy the E70-14 Wide Ovals ,a set of BF-Goodrich Radial T/A's will fit better on a daily driver !?? ( i think )

Question is , what will fit the GT/CS best, the 205/70x14 , the 215/70x14 or 225/70x14 ???

I realy dont know what will fit under the car on the original rims ( rubbing in corners !? ) I do not want to make any modifications to the car to fit the tires, but also want a tire that looks a bit agressive.

Thanks for your help,

John

15 x 7 Shelby ten spokes wrapped in 245/50 TA - best street combo for my money.

but if your going drag racing then I am sure others here can help more and i hope they do because that's my intention and i need the advice

For an E-70/14, the correct size would be a 205/70/14. If you change the tire height, your speedometer will be off unless you change out the speedo gear at the same time. Use this link and at the bottom of the page is another link for additional tire sizes that will give you just about everything you should need.

We had the idea of changing our negative rake on our car during our restoration. We took an inch out of front with the heavy spring kit. Then we added an inch in the back with shackles. Finally, we ordered 205's for the front and 225's for the rear (BF - Goodrich Radial T/A's). We like the look of the back rear quarter and how it fills up the wheel well.

It will most certain be the decision of the owner as many folks want the same tire front and back.

Given your criteria I'd say go with the 215/70x14. They are more aggressive looking than the 205s, you dont have to worry about any rubbing, and visually the tire/rim seems to be in about the right ratio. Another idea is to look through the gallery and find some tires you like and ask the owner the size. Also the stance has a lot to do with how the car looks so you might want to think about a modification here. Personally, I like a rake to the car and find that +0.5" in the back (as measured from ground to top of wheel well) is about right.

I have a 1 inch lowering kit, 225-60-15's in back and 205-60-15's up front. BF Goodrich radial TA's with Shelby ten spokes. Seems to work well for me.
