What was the method?

I have seen two variants, A small clip, kinda like the transmission line clip holding the two rods together. And another with an "M" clip screwed to the underside of the panel between the trunk lid and rear window.

Have also seen a spiral cut piece of "hose" on one rod.

What is correct for the 68's? And did it vary per plant (asking not only about GTCS which is obviously San Jose, but for my other three 68's, two other San Jose, one early on late, and a Dearborn, if it matters) or did it vary early-to-late builds?

Or vary convertible (one) to coupe (three)?
