What is the hanger on the cowl for?

Hi all,


Does anyone know what the little "hanger" is used for that is on the cowl under the hood? It's kind of close to the passenger side hood hinge.

Is it made of copper? I think that they are or were an anti static strip.

Yes. It is made of copper.

Was this used as a grounding location while the cars were rolling down the assembly line?

That is the static collector.
Collects static electricity from hood so your radio doesn't have to.
