Hi

I´m looking to buy a GT/CS in excellent condition. Will prefer red, blue or green car. Not interested in rusted, damaged or incomplete cars.

Will prefer well optioned and documented car.

Good car - good cash price

Best regards
Anders

you might want to narrow down your choices to engine size as well.

I would sell my show condition 390 V-8 gulfstream Aqua no rust in any way CS for $70,000.

pm me if interested.

Ummm, $70,000 seems a little much for a 390 Jason, unless the prices shot up drastically without any of us noticing.

I am guessing that Jason really doesn't want to sell it, but if someone is willing to pay $70K, then he would happily part with it.

Same happened to me this weekend with my 87 GN. Car is 7300 mile, 99% original, only battery has been changed, still riding on original tires. Guy says he wants it. I tell him $35K. He came back with pretty much what you said. Like I told him, don't want to sell, but if you really want it, that is my price.

:)

Thank you for the offer. It´s a beautiful and rare car, but it is not 70K worth for me ;-)

Reason for not stating engine size, is that it doesn´t matter than much to me, at least not for this CS.

Still looking for that CS in excellent condition

Thanks and happy new year to you all.

Happy New Year and welcome Anders!

Keep in touch with the "classifieds" section here on this site. Members are routinely posting GT/CSs (and HCSs) that are for sale from everywhere.

Good Hunting!

Thank you. New to the CS model, but not unfamiliar with the body style as I´m currently building a replica" type version of the 1967 Shelby hardtop prototype "Little red", and for that car I already have a original CS trunk lid and taillight panel.

If you want to see some of my other cars, look at these links:

My page at The Mustang Club of Denmar site:
http://www.mustangklubben.dk/medlemmer/visMedlem.asp?id=200

My page at a well know german site:
http://www.ponysite.de/andersnannerup.htm

One car that I´m also looking in to is the red CS posted as "pristine CS" in the classifieds. Anyone have any info about this car?

Thank you
Anders

Stroked94canary,

I guess we've determined the upper bound you are willing to pay for a GT/CS. What price range are you looking for?

I would pay $70000 for your 428 HCS. Wire can be there Tuesday morning.

Jason,

Given what people think these (GT/CS & HCS) cars are worth, that's probably the best offer I will ever get. For whatever reason, people just don't value the cars where they should be. Your car is a perfect example. You couldn't buy a 390 CS car and restore it and have less than $70K in it today. Prices are up across the board on muscle cars, but not on GT/CSs. I don't get it. Maybe someday they will get the recognition they deserve. Paul's new book should help. The diecasts should help educate people too. The new 2007GT/CS should help. But as long as the "low price" mentality exists on this website, it will be difficult to break out of the "just another Mustang" price for GT/CSs. People looking to buy and sell these cars look here for guidance. And if the educated GT/CS folks are saying that a 390 CS isn't worth $70K, then it'll be hard to get descent money for it. This is off topic for this thread, so I'll shut-up now.

I've said the same thing a half dozen times Scott. It's like we enjoy being left out.

One can't have it both ways. You can't give the cars away for $15K and then want them to be worth $40K (I’m referring to 289 cars). Someone (actually several) out there is going to have to start spending some money on buying these cars before anyone will take them seriously and not just consider them "another Mustang". But as long as they are available for cheap money, that's what they will sell for. I have the unenviable distinction of being the person that has (probably) paid the highest price for a GT/CS or HCS. I’m not proud of that, but at least it’s a price to point to for anyone else selling a 428 HCS or GT/CS. And if someone does want to sell a 428 GT/CS or HCS I’m sure the price I paid for mine would factor into the asking price and buying price. The problem is that there are too many inexpensive GT/CS available to drive the price anywhere other than where it currently is. Like I said…Paul’s new book, the 2007 GT/CS and the diecasts may help that some, but the asking prices need to go up before the selling prices will got up. I’ll get off of my soapbox and let this thresd get back on topic.

I also think we can help by not being overly "perfectionist" in critique of cars that do come up for sale. Don't nitpick, rather offer praise and support while keeping enthusiasm prominent. More pictures and stories posted of all of us thoroughly enjoying our "Specials"... We all know the magic is there. Let's report it here accordingly.

Scott, there have been numerous cars recently with high asking prices that have not sold, so having higher asking prices will not necessarily equate to higher market prices. People will pay what they think it is worth

Although the cars are something special to the enthuiast, I keep saying the same thing, they are a coupe, and coupes do not demand big dollars.

Just look at your HCS. a 68.5 would demand $20K more easily then the $70K Jason just offered.

Do you mean a 68.5 fastback would demand $20K more? They made coupes, fastbacks and convertibles.

Scott & Tim;
I agree totally. For some reason we (members of this site) continue to shoot ourselves in the foot. If we continue to say "that's a little high", the prices will never change. We continue to be our worst ememy. Even with my car no longer having the 390 in it I wouldn't sell it for less than $60,000.00. Anybody out there that thinks that's too much - oh well, that's the way it is.

Don

I bought my 68.5 CJ fastback a year ago for $56,500. Not all 68 CJ's are 90k but I will say that I got mine at a fairly good price. I would take $90,000 for it today if offered.
