Original space saver spare?

Looks like plenty of rust in the battery location.

The front frame rail is even rusted away. This would be a lot of work but it looks like the parts that are there, are correct. If it doesn't go too high, it would be worth fixing.

Steve: What do you think is the highest you can pay for this car in as is condition?

I would have to see the car in person to see if there is any other rust, but if there wasn't, and if a Marti showed it to be a real CS, and if it was local to me so I wouldn't have to transport it, and assuming I was going to do the work myself, I would probably go as high as $1500. Higher than that and I think it would cost more to fix than it would be worth. There are some expensive parts missing and a lot of hours needed.

I went and looked at this car since I happen to live 6 miles from the guy. My husband thought it "wasn't as bad as he expected". It is matching #'s, looks like original paint job, I think it had only one owner. it sat for many years, then was actually at the steel recycling place to be crushed!!! It hadn't even been registered in so long the DMV had no record of it. It does have the original black plates though (as well as new ones i'm told) I really wanted it but the bidding has gone up to 2200 at last check, and really i don't want to piss off my husband for the nest 5 years waiting for him to finish it :), otherwise...
also in case anyone is interested in it, the rust is what you see, there isn't any more than in the pics, the engine is not frozen and doesn't look bad, but as he says it needs everything. the guy is real honest, even works for sheriffs dept.

I asked the guy if it had dual exahst and he said it appeared to be an original single exhast. So this non - Gt should not have a sticker that says GT-
CS?

Not all GT/CS Mustangs came with the GT option, but they are still GT/CS's.

John

Its to bad this CS wasn't taken better care of. Would be cool if the space saver
came with the car from the factory and could be varified.

IMO 4K bid for a non-GT, GT/CS in this poor of condition. Must mean that because it is a GT/CS, it has more value.

Well, I paid too much but its the same color as my first stang. The value of this car is that its original and not modified. Probably take a month before I get it her in South Texas. Fingers crossed

Congrats on your new CS.

IMO you didn't pay too much. The fact that it is an original CS makes it more valuable than a stock Mustang.

WAS SOLD FOR $4500.00!!!

What do you think of this selling price??

Projects often sell for disproportionately more than finished cars. It's easier to fork $4,500 now, then shell out the many thousands in restoration over the next months to years, than to cough up $24,000 today for a finished car.

BTW, good luck with your new toy--I am into stock/unmodified cars, too, and I am also a big green Mustang fan.

As it turns out the seller has the trunk lid but the hood was disgarded due to rust. Does anyone have a used hood for sale near Salinas, California? I need to cover the car for transport, otherwise it will get a diesel bath.

I'm glad you'll get the trunk lid. I kind of low balled my earlier estimate, in part, because that appeared to be missing and it could cost around $1,000 to find an original one. Hoods are easier to come by. Something to consider--- how about a "Green Hornet Lite" (Green) and put a Shelby front end on it?

Get on the Craig's List there and see if you can find one that the seller (of the CS/GT) will pick up and install for you. Here are a couple of ads that might work:

RVR you know I have changed my ways, I'm a restorer now not a mod guy but, that is such a tempting thought. You know, I don't have the original hood. So I can't say that a mod hood would be out of the question. But then I really want to go original. Ok - dang it what about a shaker?

Deadstang thanks for the links I sent e-mail to um.
