....sorting through 30 years and thousands of negatives & slides. Along with hundreds of family, railroad and air race pics, I'm finding some interesting car history as well. 'Just thought I'd share a few with you :)

Here's my driveway in 1979. I bought the middle '69 (302) fastback
in 1977, the GT/CS in '78 and the yellow Mach in '79. At the time of this shot, I had already sold the 302 to a neighbor to buy the Special.

As you know - Mike "somethingspecial" has restored the GT/CS to Concours Gold! Below are two more pics of it at his place before the effort... and a couple more after...

...The yellow Mach became my family workhorse. I drove it everywhere and in all weather for over 15 years!

...We also had a '66 six-banger during the '80's and my sister visited with her white '69 Mach she had for about a year.

I would always shoot Specials on the go when I could. The green one was in Roseville, CA around 1986 and the Maroon one on the freeway near Sacramento around 1989. I later figured out that was Paul Newitt... The last one looks to be a clone in progress - taken at Reno Stead Airport around 1983....

...Who can tell me what this Cobra is all about? I saw this at an airshow in Truckee, CA during the early-1980's...

P.S. 'Spent a lot of time around SR-71 Backbirds as well :)

Are you going to pull all your old photos together and make your own little Blurb book? You have quite a little history there.

I finally got back to work on my own personal journals.

Paul, Thanks. I was thinking along the same lines, but wasn't sure if it was a real Shelby or kit. It has a "famous" look to it however, so I wondered if someone here recognized it.

Cory, Perhaps eventually a "Blurb", but I still have many items to go through. I had forgotten what a shutter bug I have been all these years... I finally found a decent negative scanner & am having a ball!

Great pictures Tim. I was suprised to see that you were doing the same that I have been doing going through old pictures. We are going to frame and hang a bunch in our family room. I will have to post a picture whe I get them up on the wall. Marty

Tim,
GREAT PICTURES! I need to dig around for pics of my GNS in the snow with matching wheels with studded tires.

And those cut offs... You are a brave man! The women will be all over you!!!

SR-71!! I just love those planes. You got to hear one in action!! I am envious!!

Do you mind if I post your picture on the SAAC site? I bet someone can identify it. Looking at the era of the pic it was more than likely built from a real AC Cobra.

Rob, Be my guest to do as you wish with these. I'm not a member of SAAC, so by all means... In fact - please use this thread to post your "oldies" as well :)

P.S. Rob - indeed, got to hear those Blackbirds all the time! :)

Tim,
Rob is not a member. He just posts from time to time. Have found a couple nice people interested in the Weber cold air system I designed. In fact they are afraid to post because they get ate alive by some of the old timers....

Love your PICS!!! I need to learn how to take old photos and get them in an electronic format. How do you do it??

Rob, I went to Best Buy and got an ION FILM 2 SD 35mm film & slide scanner. The nice thing about this one is you load negs, view and scan in the unit which loads it's own chip to put on your computer. Priced around $130.00... Avoid the "sale priced" ones that plug into your computer as some contain incompatible or outdated software.

Tim, Great photo's. Can I ask a favor if it's not to much trouble and have you start a file for me and put all the old pics of Something Special in it. From your house, to scattered about the field at my folks, to my property here and right up to today. I would greatly appreciate it. You are like the picture vault for the history of the car. All of my early year pics disappeared and/or were burned when my folks ripped the sheets. I had lots of stuff stored at their house. Lots of ugly times there. Mike

Tim,
Thanks for the scanner info!!! You again, are a brave man!!! I love the train pics!!! I spent every summer from about 5 to 12 years old about 100 feet from the main line of the Southern Pacific in Halsey, Oregon!! A train went by every 20 munutes then. No pics of that, but I have lots of old car photo's.

Time to buck up for a picture scanner!

OH GEEEEEEZZZZZZ, .... Seems to me a lot of suds and CLUB drinks were consumed that weekend too. LOL.

...Oh yeah! ...and talk about a rude-ass wake up call from the mouth of that tunnel when your nursing a seven-magnitude hangover!! ....at times compounded by the fact that we were camped (cramped) between two tracks!

The "inside tunnel" image below was actually a picture taken from inside my brain that morning ;-O

Included here are a few more pics of my yellow Mach chained up for snow service. It was my only transportation and performed very well with those 50-series bias-ply rears.

...Also a couple more GT/CSs seen locally in the mid-'80's. I have no idea who owns them today... Perhaps some site members?
