. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

I'm not sure I'm following the discussion about the taillight panels (early vs late). There would be no reason to have a prototype taillight panel for the GT/CS. It already existed. The Shelbys had been using it since December 1967. Am I missing something? I admit I have not followed...

    1968 Factory A/C

Jeff, I understand what you are saying about the grommet. But the assembly manual clearly shows it on the back side. And after this I'm going to give up on this point. But I have NEVER seen a 1968 San Jose Mustang or GT/CS with it on the front side of the radiator support. Seen it there...

    1968 Factory A/C

Maybe 1967s are different. I don't know anything about them. Anyone have an assenbly manual for 1967? Where's Speegle? Isn't he supposed to know this stuff? Scott

    1968 Tail Light Covers

The biggest wheel you could get on a regular Mustang in 68 was 14-inch. They should fit better than the one in the picture because it's a Shelby and Shelbys used 15x6 wheels. But you are right, my protector has been damaged by the spare tire. Scott

    1968 Factory A/C

Neil, Why would you place it on the front? The assembly manual shows it on the back side. And original cars have it on the back side. Are you just a rebel? Scott

    1968 Factory A/C

For what it's worth, I checked the assembly manual and it shows the gasket installed on the back side of the radiator support too. Not sure how that information would play into the judges thinking but I just offer it as further information. I like to go with what I have seen, not what is in...

    1968 Factory A/C

Doug, I can take a photo but it's not very exciting. And I don't know what the judging rules are. They may require that the foam piece is on the front side of the radiator support. But I don't believe that's the way they were installed. To reinforce my position, here is an original J-code...

    1968 Tail Light Covers

1968 Shelby and 1968 GT/CS and 1968 HCS cars used the same trunk protectors. Original ones were painted a gray color on the side that faces the inside of the trunk. Here's a link to one of my Shelbys showing original ones installed. They do not go under the tabs that are used to hold the tail...

    1968 Factory A/C

Every original 1968 Mustang I have ever seen has the foam gasket on the back side of the radiator support. I know it seems like it should go on the front, but I have never seen one there except on restored cars. Scott

    1968 HCS or GT/CS

I have the build sheet for my HCS. If someone has a build sheet for a GT/CS we could probably figure out what designated one vs the other. Scott
