    1968 Vinyl Roof Question

The paint stripe refers to the optional painted side stripe or pin stripe. Here's a discussion about it in a different thread. http://californiaspecial.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4054&highlight=paint+stripe+option&page=2 Scott

I can't see enough of the exhaust to tell for sure if it's original or not. But I can see that the driver side tailpipe has been modified from original. The tip is probably original and maybe part of the tailpipe. Scott

If you're saying that the GT/CS that is claimed to be a debut car could have been a copy of the car on the stage at the debut event, it could not have been because the build date of the car predates the GT/CS event. On page 60 it says it was built on January 30th, 1968. The event was on...

Would the debut cars have a GT/CS indication on the Marti? Has anyone seen the Marti on the Gulfstream Aqua car? Scott

. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

There is a claim made by the author of the book that the Gulfstream Aqua GT/CS debut car has been identified...right? Is the "red flag" that calls this into question the photo on page 47 of the book? Specifically, the dark area around the gas cap? And the more recent photo of the car (pg 60)...

I was curious about the placement of the taillight panel and the "gap" as identified in the photos below. The green GT/CS has the panel placed considerably farther out (larger gap) than the red HCS. And as a result of the placement the gas cap appears recessed. Just wondered if that might be...

Who owns the blue car in the photo? Or the other car? A photo of the taillight panel with the trunk open would answer a lot of questions. Based on the Shelbys I've seen, they weren't rejecting any fiberglas. The fit and finish is horrible. Scott

. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

By mid-February 1968 Ford had built around 1,500 Shelbys. I suspect that they had any issues with the taillight panels worked out to their satisfaction. They may not have been perfect, but they were passable and were likely not being modified by the time the GT/CS debuted. I think the gap...
