1968 Good news / Bad news from the 2011 Recognition Guide

With todays technology, the registry information should be sitting in a database. This would allow easy updates, public or private access to up to date information and the ability to query the information in many different and useful ways (number of red cars, deluxe interior, dso by s/n, etc).

For Sale Shelby Wheels: Nice finishing touch for our GT/CS

Too bad I ordered mine last week. Probably not a bad price. I have seen original C2 (1963-1967) Corvette Knockoff wheels sell for over $10K.

    1968 1968 GT/CS or HCS?

Certainly the HCS is rarer, but as mentioned above, the GT/CS decal on the sides and the rear script set the Cal Special off.

. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

No vested interest in how this unfolds, but a very interesting topic. I am kind of surprised, given its importance to these cars, that after all these years it has not been completely documented. My question is, what efforts have been made to track down someone from Ford that was involved...

    1968 Shelby Style Wheels

I remember you posting about that, I'll bet that was quite a shock. I am pretty sure those are the Branda wheels. That was a beautiful car. I went ahead and ordered the Vintage 50's. Too good of a deal through CJ Pony parts (tire package and free shipping). The Branda set with tires and...

    1968 Shelby Style Wheels

Neil, Are those the Vintage 50's or Branda's?

    1968 Shelby Style Wheels

What I am trying to understand is how much of a visual difference is there between the Vintage 50 and Branda wheels. In additional to the general price difference between the two wheels, Branda charges shipping and others (mainly CJ Pony Parts) do not.

    1968 Shelby Style Wheels

I think I will be going with 235-60-15's all around on 15-7 rims.

    1968 Shelby Style Wheels

There looks to be a significant difference between the Vintage 50 and the 10 spoke shelby wheels from Branda. Branda's are licensed and built to original shelby specs. I need a new set of wheels and like the 10 spoke but don't really want to spend the additional $600. What do people think...

    For Sale 1966 HCS Convertible!!

Another car that I saw in Craigslist. This could be a fun restoration. Bob Teets is aware of it, but I do not think he has spoken with the seller. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/2356327001.html

    For Sale 1968 gt/cs

Not mine, saw this in Denver Craigslist. This car was for sale about 6 months ago and he pulled the ad after not selling. I have talked with the owner, not seen the car though. I believe he owns a European auto repair shop. Says the car is in excellent condition...for what it is worth...

1968 Beating the heat! Any thoughts on radiators?

Go aluminum. Copper is getting expensive and aluminum is better. If you do go aluminum, pay attention to the antifreeze you use. Make sure it is compatible with aluminum. It certainly won't look stock, though. An electric fan will make a huge difference when in traffic or stopped. It...

For Sale 1968 HCS T code for sale or trade

At one point I was looking to buy an early Falcon and ran across this car. Turbo vs v8 conversion? Maybe worth a try. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/ctd/2334608180.html

1968 4 speed toploader = close ratio vs wide ratio

Once you are in 4th gear, close ratio and wide ratio are both the same (i.e. 1.00) and it is the rear end ratio that impacts RPM's. 60MPH turing 3K RPM does not sound like 3:25 gears. I'd say more like 3:70's. Were you in 4th gear?

1968 4 speed toploader = close ratio vs wide ratio

My understanding, but I am no expert, is that you need to match it up with your rear end gears. In general, wide ratio will do better with a higher geared rear end (i.e. 2.75 or 3.00) and close ratio will do better with lower gears (3:90). Close ratio the gear spacing is closer and thus the...

    'Lectric Shelby

Check these guys out. They have done a bunch of gas to electric conversions. One was turning a cities fleet of trucks to electric. Another is a vintage Mustang Convertible. They also have a nice inventory of classic cars for sale. I love visiting them and taking a ride in an electric...
