    1968 Question about 1968 J-Code Mustangs

Interior picture through a rolled up window? You might be right.

    1968 Rear End Work

What tranny do you have in the car, assuming C6, and how tall are your wheels and tires? Also, you planning on doing any highway driving, or just around town with an occassional romp over 65MPH? Personally, I would not go any higher than 3:55's (unless your tires are pretty tall). That is...

    1968 Factory Disc brakes

The one I have sitting around, taking up space in my garage, also has 4. I was told it was taken off a 68 Mustang.

1968 Help with tire size !!

Looks great! However, the tires are on backwards:wink: Any one with a HCS that has recently purchased a tape kit should have the extra GT/CS for the side scoops. It comes with the package, but is not used. David

    1968 HCS core support markings

Pretty cool. The only marking I ever found on my HCS was a "5" on the floor under the passenger seat.

    1968 Mini Tach

Mustangs Unlimited sell a white faced mini tach from retrogauge, but not the black any more. Maybe the white ones are left over stock? I found him (Mike - Retrogauge) on ebay and sent a message asking what was going on. Looks like he has not been on ebay for a few years. Hope he is ok...

    1968 Mini Tach

I noticed that a little while back. Read that they sometimes come up on ebay. If someone made something similar, I would be interested. I have a mini, but it is a half circle and very hard to read. Was in my HCS when I first bought it.

    1968 Carroll Shelby autograph

I did. We have a Shelby museum in Boulder and he used to come regularily for an annual Holiday party. Probably pretty hard to get one signed today. I never installed it in my HCS. I guess I never felt it really belonged there. When I asked him about the California Special, he just brushed...

    A Unique GT/CS Tribute

Nice looking car. I really like the light bar/roll bar. Might add one to mine. This was a coupe originally, right? Sure sounds like it from the description. If so, that had to be a ton of work and costs. Why not start with a convertible? Could this have been an original California Special...

    1968 Rear seatbak Gap-osis

Convertible rear seat is 43" measuring side to side from the back and 46" measuring from the front. I also noticed that a convertible rear seat has a much more pronounced hump in the middle compared to a coupe seat. Hope this helps. David

    1968 Rear seatbak Gap-osis

I can pull and measure my convertible rear seat later tonight, if that helps. Glad to see you keeping busy Neil. David

    1968 My new "california special"

I sold my HCS last year to a wonderful lady in Canada. Been looking for another car and found and bought this one last spring. Car had about 75% of the right conversion items. Pretty complete now thanks to a grille from Mike and Fog lights from Bob. Still got a few more fixes though (289...

1968 Power Steering Return Hose Failure

Recently been through both stripped wheel stud and power steering hose problems. I bought a 68 Convertible earlier this year. Put on Shelby 10 spoke wheels and found that the rear wheel studs were all messed up. In addition to that, the car has 4 wheel disc brakes. For some reason, the old...

    1968 Painting questions

I like springtime yellow and black interior. With Ivy, no. Good choice on the color change. I have used Accumatch Products, 67-73 Ford Black Charcoal - Metallic (#L-4464). NPD has a similar product (Charcoal Black metallic, P/N AP-4464) . I do not think they are the same. I have seen both...

    1968 AOD Transmission

I recently bought a 68 mustang that has an AOD. Not very happy with it right now. My understanding is that they are heavy and take up power. I have someone looking at mine this week. If I can not get it running how I want, I am conteplating a convertion to a 5spd manual. Do some internet...

    2007+ 2011 gt/cs steering issues

The same guy has posted on most of the mustang forums about this problem. Looks like he is a trouble maker for pretty much every car manufacturer. Not very credible. Check out post #30 on page 2...

1968 Engine weight, alum. V. Cast Iron

Looks like it could be closer to a 50 lbs savings with the alum intake. Those FE cast intakes are HEAVY!!! http://www.carmemories.com/cgi-bin/viewexperience.cgi?experience_id=134 I'd guess the difference between a fully fitted out (with cast iron intake and heads) small block and big block is...
