    Mca show

IF you need or want, I will be traveling with my San Jose paint inspector stamps ( as I normally do at shows) and will place the correct/original looking stamps on your car for free if you'll look me up (often contact all San Jose cars on the field on Friday and at least ask) Just an effort to...

    Undercarriage

As mentioned this is just overspray (often heavy to the point of many runs in this area) from the pinch weld black out. This was applied from the front wheelwell to the rear valance (not normally pulled in at this point on 68's at SJ) Take note that the black was applied before the front...

    Red Oxide Primer

No have always had to color match (starting with an epoxy primer sealer) to get something close (or exact) to the color used on the floor pans. By 68 if could be the typical browish or more of a dusty-pinkish color

    GT/CS Mustang Illustrated May 2000

To be exact the rears didn't get the month and year either. During these years only the years were used (all registrations came due at the same time in Calif) and the years (even and odd) were to be attached at different corners. Alternating back and forth

    Black California Plates

Unfortunately IMHO - yes. Now any owner (with an original calif car or one delivered anywhere) can now be an "original" black plate car :( No

The EPA wants to stop old-car restoration

Looked into this and the problem with that is that the guy buying it for you gets credited with shooting the product and his total limit for the year/period is reduced by that amount. Just one limiting proposal. Calif has been discussing this for a while and basically one of the thoughts would...

    Rim Code Mystery

No real answer (haven't spent any time on the subject) but would offer the following 1- Not all wheels have the FoMoCo on them. There were a number (like many of the parts for a Mustang) of companies that made wheels for Ford one being Kelsey Hays and they are marked that way 2- The coding...

    Jacking Inst. Decal Placement

Yep we seem to have plenty of those (think some were posted a couple weeks back) The other original locations just don't show up that often

    GT/CS at Barrett-Jackson

Unfortunately typical of auction cars. Love the painted fender bolts, riveted radiator seal......

    Jacking Inst. Decal Placement

Yes seen a few (earlier cars if I recall correctly) like this. Likely the same worker at San Jose that placed them on the passenger side floor of the trunk - under the spare, on some 67 Shelbys (since they had no trunk lid to stick the decal too ;)

    Windshield wiper clip??

Have never seen that item there on an original car not can I figure out it purpose. Leave it off IMHO

    Trunk decals

I've not seen any of the Federal stickers to the left on a San Jose car in 68-70 that I recall. Will double check through the database

    Trunk decals

Might I suggest that people post when the cars were built (door tag info or just the VIN) since the location can vary. Might be a shift/worker thing or a running change but don't think its best to copy a car that was build many months different from yours. Looks like the two previous cars are...

    Signed Fender Well??

Thanks... no have not seen similar ones on another 68 San Jose.

    Signed Fender Well??

Bolt on???? isn't that the inner fender panel or the small lip welded to the shock tower? By etched you mean in the metal so I would guess that possibly that this si something that was applied to the bare metal, then painted over and when that paint wore/came off the rust etched the metal. Not...

    Needing help restoring 68gt/cs

Thought that might be the book someone was going to refer to and not meaning to start anything but I can't let the opportunity to speak up go by IMHO I would not use this book as a reference - especially for a San Jose car!!. From the little that others have quoted from it ... IF your...

    68 "Trunk Lid"

Please understand that not all of the cars you will see in magazines or on the web are restored back to original or may not even be real Calif Specials. This forum is a good place to get the straight scoop about the details concerning these cars since the public presentation of questions...

    Trunk Slam Bumpers

Yes the 64 1/2 used a forward hood bumper with a phillips head in the center (and this was the part number for that part) but what we have here is a service replacement item that is shaped different from the one used on the assembly line (common for NOS or service replacement parts) ' The 65-66...

    Trunk Slam Bumpers

If you look closely its a C5ZZ part number. These are the service replacement style/design of the most forward hood bumpers (the adjustable ones) used on most early Mustangs. They aren't even close when compared to other replacements or the orginals in looks

X-Code Needs Title Help, May be for sale; Sad Story..

Yes 67's were available (read very rare option) with shoulder harnesses and I think they all had the provision for the mounting (67 Shelbys used the mounting point to attach the upper part of the roll bar ;)
