1968 Yet another grille color question

I know this isn't the answer to your question, but----Mike has a point. Ask your paint supplier how much to mix up a batch. It may be different there, but here they'll mix a small amount and put it in a spray can for you. The last time I had it done, it was about $15.00 for a can. No spray...

    1968 Block casting I. D.

I built a 302 once for my '69 Fairlane, using an early (1965) 289 block. The crank fit just fine with no extra machining required, however, there is a slight difference in deck height I believe ('65 is shorter) and you need shorter pushrods. With later 302 pushrods in the early 289 block, the...

    1968 Coolant overflow issues

Have you run the car up to operating temperature with the radiator cap off? Even if the thermostat has been drilled, or has a vent hole, air can get trapped in the top of the intake water passages. When air gets hot it expands since the system is sealed, pops the radiator cap and pushes water...

1968 68 CS... Salvaged title... Worth resotration?

Salvage brings to mind a crumpled up ball of metal that's beyond repair to most people. That's the stigma. To me it's just something to look more closely at when buying. Even if the repair was well done, you could still have stressed spot welds, etc. Steve (and in the past, my tag line was...

    1968 Lights flickering during idle

Sorry I'm late to the discussion, and hope I'm not stating the obvious, but when you checked voltage at the brake light switch, did you check it with the brake depressed? If you checked it in the "up" position, 12V on one side and ground on the other is normal. You don't get 12V on both sides...

    1968 Engine stalls-die-misfire at times

They're just easier to troubleshoot when they fail completely, but they can fail slowly, "get weak", or degrade. If the fuel pump was failing, it would steadily loose pressure until it failed completely (if it didn't fail completely right off the bat). You would feel like you were running out...

    1968 Engine stalls-die-misfire at times

Ford uses a two wire tach and the coil power goes through it. If the tach fails, your car dies. I would have suggested condenser as well but you said it was new. Might try another just in case you got a bad one. Carb and dist are probably OK. A timing light, dwell meter and vac gauge will...

    1968 Engine stalls-die-misfire at times

Do you have a factory tach? Are the power and ground wires at the coil tight? Is the ground pigtail from the dist in good shape and not shorting out, inside or outside the dist? Steve

    1968 Headlamp switch testing

You could measure across the contacts with an ohmmeter while you cycled the switch but that doesn't show how it would work under a load. I'd plug it in but leave it hanging, put power to it and measure the outputs (with the lights hooked up) to see if there is a voltage drop. Steve
