find the anomaly

Folks in Australia, for some reason, generally hate the OEM ebrake. So the swap shown is pretty common here. Somehow they think it is "better", not sure why as I've never had a problem using the OEM to stop on a rare occasion (once) or hold a car in a parking spot when needed... folks love...

    1968 Dash/pillar pads

Have two December San Jose build S codes. Convertible, built Dec 14th has both. The GT coupe built 6 days later has only the pillar pads, no thin dash knee pad on the passenger side... so seem to have been phased out separately.

    She's finally home....

Some happy snaps from post cleaning/waxing today... high sun and a crap camera made it hard to get good pics, but a few close ups to show some of the details... need to have a photographer friend arrange something once I get all the little issues sorted (like the hanging ignition switch...

1968 Finally getting my HCS on the road again! - Startup procedure

Simple pre crank item I use is to pop the valve covers (as noted a clean under there can be needed), remove the distributor, and take a drill, long 1/4" extension and a deep socket (socket taped to the extension!) to fit the oil pump shaft and give it a good spin. Ensures that oil is getting...

1968 Thoughts on a recently introduced EFI system

New kid on the block. As noted with all the competition with no history their only angle to get into the market is price. As most of the others are at a similar price point one could assume : a) the costs of the existing units is based on the market, price for quality (or one would assume one...

1968 How do you determine the value of a 68 H.C.S.?

Cool... higher is better to me, my car is "worth more"...estimate is only based on cars I have seen. ... and anyone that thinks NADA values have any semblance to reality is kidding themselves... not clue what Ouiji board they use.. kinda similar to using Barrett-Jackson as the benchmark for...

1968 How do you determine the value of a 68 H.C.S.?

Unfortunately the sentimental/enthusiast perceived value of the "rare" car often does not translate into $$. While there are a few who know and love them, from a truly "collectable" status they are not really a big $/high demand car... The fact the fewer HCSs were made makes them, overall...

    1968 New for restoration help

Ask away! No one's born knowing it, and the "do a search" answer common on some forums is not often used as an answer here... point of a forum is discussion and sharing, not searching! Post pics and info on the car and your plans!

    1968 Power Steering Hose Routing

Q1. routing Per the FAM 3A719 pressure hose runs nearest the bracket clamp bolt, upper hose in the rubber bushing, away side from the engine. (and in looking at my pics above I may I may have mine backwards) Q2. Bracket Yep, that looks like the correct bracket. Mounts to the rear side of...

    1968 what are screw cover

Well.. they do have a screw, its just a grub style in a different place! And they have the flat to accept the insert if you want all 4 to look the same...

    1968 Steering wheel, seatbelt resto

I think Python suffers the same issues as StangersSite for Power Steering items. A guy loves the cars/work, finds a niche, and does fantastic work. Word gets out and the backlog grows.... then the dilemma... keep the quality up, and costs down by staying a small shop, or expand as then risk...

    1968 The one day wonder...

The ends and yellow/orange colors? Yep, thought it was a bit odd, but the colors are what I found when cleaning and replaced it... As most of the car is original and as a "second" owner (ok 4th, family mom-to-son then to the guy who flipped it to me) with a stack of receipts, VIN stamped...

    1968 The one day wonder...

Back in place, now just need to finish off the brakes, do an alignment, a few interior items, apply the stripes and she should be road ready. May need to change the front springs as the Shelby drop lowered it just enough to make it a bit close to as low as I'd like...

    1968 289 coil mounting

Have seen some on the left side of the intake, horizontal and facing forward. Others on the face of the block. left side, mounted vertically... Which is correct? Very late April C code.

    1968 Steering wheel, seatbelt resto

+1 on Python. Had these made a couple years ago. Used a guy in New Zealand for a '68 deluxe, did a great job. With the exchange rate may be cost competitive depending on shipping prices. https://www.facebook.com/rimblowrestorations/photos_stream?ref=page_internal

1968 Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Lock Ring

+1 on the brass, unless its a new and unused tank. Tap it to full seat against the stop.

    1968 Rear leaf markings

So mine in the middle of two the must be mid-year! (April!) Any comments on an OK paint for the leaf springs? Bare will just corrode here so willing to accept "close" as part of the rear end freshen up... she ain't a trailer queen and isn't going to collect points...
