1968 289 coil mounting

Have seen some on the left side of the intake, horizontal and facing forward. Others on the face of the block. left side, mounted vertically...

Which is correct? Very late April C code.

Mine is mounted on the left side laying down faceing the distrib Did you get the over heating fix did you try a different Carb? mine was made in Apirl Tom from WI

Not sure there is a real pattern. We thought with or without A/C was a determiner, but not in every case.

I added aftermarket AC and a Petronix coil which is longer than the original. Because of these changes I had to move it from the original vertical position on the front of the motor to horizontal on the intake manifold. Not many options when adding those items.
