    1968 Vent Window Frames

With pitted parts you have to be very careful. The acids that build up in the corrosion, if not properly removed and repaired (generally by drilling out the area and refilling with low temp solder) will come back in not too long and blemish the new chrome... Discuss the parts with the shop...

1968 SEM Paint on Metal Dash?

Have noticed with some sprays if you fail to really shake the s&*t out of the can it can stay soft and not cure/dry properly. I have an Aluminum paint here that will stay tacky for days if I don't give it an aggressive shake for a good 2 minutes.... one local Ford Blue (great color, PITA to...

1968 SEM Paint on Metal Dash?

+1 Yep, what he said. Would have thought vinyl dye was designed a bit different to paint to maintain "flex" and bond differently...

    . Salvage Titles

You've changed the topic. We were not talking front clips, or stolen cars, VIN tampering/fraud (federal crime) or a bad or questionable history... but the value of a car with a salvage title. So on the title issue, not registries, how does that work in states like Masschussetts and...

1968 Help a sister out please, car fire

Scott, here in Australia we actually have things called "expats". People who actually travel the world and end up living in a place where they were not born. Some are called "Americans"... It is so nice for you to explain to the ferriners how things work in a place we only hear about on the...

1968 Help a sister out please, car fire

Would respectfully disagree that it affects future value. As long as it is fully disclosed, IMO not a big deal. This type of massive rust repair is common, and far less than the repairs required on this one.. and no one freaks out that its not going to be worth anything. Only difference...

1968 Help a sister out please, car fire

On the parts, NOS will be hard to find and $. Have not seen a NOS dash pad in ages, and heard of one recently on Ebay that went for $3k (that is just silly, but capitalism in action, hens teeth...) So some may need to be good used OEM. Best bet is to cut a check from the insurance company and...

1968 Lights for the hood opening

Not all '68's. It was regular production in the early part of the '68 year, but became an option after the strike... not sure of any clear changeover date. And an option in '67. IIRC all GTCS's got it. My 3 '68's up to late April have it (the latest being the GTCS) but my May Dearborn does...

    1968 Timing chain suggestions

+1 I use Cloyes http://cloyes.mycarparts.net/products/Cloyes-C-3014K?product_application_id=2772729334 Replace the gears with the chain...

    1968 Timing chain suggestions

IMHO for the ricer crowd.. Common anti-gear comments: sound funny and have hear anecdotal info they suck a bit more power as the gears have friction, some say yes, some no. Common pro comments: Sound cool, more accurate timing, no chain stretch, less likely to jump a tooth... Coke vs. Pepsi

    1968 opinions/suggestions

+1 on the polishing. Check my repaint thread, the pic of the rear are OEM I polished up an and hour or so. Buffing wheel, then a bit by hand. Look great. Weird, I did two recently (replacing originals) it was one of the easiest parts for reassembly. Literally 5 mins. Start at the front...

30k for a C code... hmm....... very optimistic. For that price you can buy this twice... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Mustang-California-Special-Black-plate-1968-ford-mustang-california-special-black-plate-/151217399888?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2335426850&item=151217399888&pt=US_Cars_Trucks...

    1968 opinions/suggestions

The vinyl top will set off the black stripe, and you could add hood stripes, I am on my Wimbledon White (but it had the vinyl top from the factory). Kinda a "what's the best color" question. Personal opinon. If you do add one, it is a bit of work; Remove/replace front and rear windows...

    1968 Hood lock pins.

The should have a groove and a snap ring on the underside of the hood that keeps them from popping out... pull one out and go the nearest decent hardware store, should be able to find a size that fits.

    1968 Voltage Regulator Cover Color

Seen conflicting views/info I have yellow and a very light silver. Which would be correct for an April Build GTCS, and a Dec 67 Build San Jose S code...

    1968 Exhaust manifold S code 390

Cut it and weld in a patch... or you'll need the longer studs. I had the exact same problem on my X code and the above is how I fixed it (rather than a $75 part shipped from the US and taking 1-2 weeks to get here, all up over $125 Aus). As noted if you have a welder, or welder friend, it...
