    1968 White hood stripes?

Thanks. I can read a tape measure...

    1968 Aluminum Grille Quality

Not sure about the original GT/CS grilles but I compared the cutouts of the 67 NPD grille I modified for the GT/CS to a mashed old '68 I have. Almost identical thickness and strength of material.

    1968 White hood stripes?

Work for me... just the way I wanted them....

    68 S GT as well!

    1968 White hood stripes?

Agree its a good look. Going to add black to the Wimbledon White... with the black vinyl roof and black side/rear stripes should tie in really well. And agree that the LeMans on-the-roof just don't look right on a hardtop....

    1968 Aluminum Grille Quality

Bought mine from NPD, not sure what vendor, but it seemed as sturdy as an original. I would think once you screw/bolt it all in and the brackets span the height the whole thing will stiffen up. It has a few support points to spread the load.

ADMIN CALL FOR PHOTOS! -Submit your pics for the 2014 CS Calendar! - Deadline Oct 4, 2013

WooHoo... my "homage to restoration" shot may get in after all... Provided a shot of the GT/CS when stripping for paint and thought it might resonate with some as a common theme (that is not a sexy as the glam shots generally used) and something many owners can relate to at one level or...

    1968 The purple wire

It is a hard one to read!!! Anyone know what that switch is? I took a quick look and did not see where the violet/white line the violet jumps to thru the red connector goes... but it was a grimy old harness and did not do any continuity... ???

    1968 Powder coat

Crank down an alternator, PS, or smog bracket adjusting bolt a few times and see how it holds up... all mine are chipped after a few years... if its a trailer queen it may be "forever". It is extremely durable, but in daily use it is not indestructible (in my experience). Getting a "right"...

    1968 Harmonic Balancer Color/finish

MCA (a few years old) calls out SGB or natural, most refs I have seen call out SGB... not sure if that is credible or not!

    1968 Moog LCA

Place the end of the grease gun to the hole, force as much grease in as you can. Tap. Squeeze the rubber boot and squirt out as much grease as you can. Any shavings will be in it... screw the zerk in and refill.

    1968 Powder coat

I did a lot of brackets, etc a few years back and would not do it again. Initially they do look great, but once they get a few chips no easy way to touch it up, except to remove and recoat. With paint if you have the same colors/cans you can touchup to match. On items like convertible top...

    1968 A little guidence please

Discs are a nice upgrade, but I'll second that they are not needed if a simple "around town" driver. OEM drums, maintained properly, are fine. Less cost than a swap. If you do go for the upgrade I'd suggest looking into Chockostang and an OEM style setup. Similar price to after market and...

    1968 The purple wire

Hard to read, but I think you misread the diagram, on mine it is faint but it looks like where you T the wire to the left to the switch it actually goes down to the bottom of the page and to the left into the "Chassis switch"... at least it looks that way on mine... otherwise the drop to the 977...

Heavy Duty Suspension V. GT package

Would think the 9" was related to engine, not the GT group. I'd hazard a guess that every non GT J, S, X and R also had a 9"... I know my non GT X and S do... but not the C code... So, by default, would think as a GT had to have the bigger V8's a 9" was already optioned to that engine... and...

    1968 The purple wire

Looked at the fried harnesses out of the '68 S GT coupe and the violet wire goes to the red connector thru the firewall to the engine harness. Jumps to a violet/white past the connector and dissappears into the harness, a quick look did not show where it went and did not chase continuity...

    1968 The purple wire

The main wiring diagram calls it out as "Violet" and it runs thru a red connector to the "Chassis Differential Switch".

    1968 The purple wire

Ford docs are notorious for errors... many of the wiring diagrams have wrong colors/references. Some have numbers on wires that don't even show up in the legend on the drawing! On the road and have a color coded wiring plan I did off my 68's. Will check to see what that purple wire is...

    1968 Rack and Pinion Steering

Have seem those that liked it and those that did not. Never used it personally. One downside I see regularly is increased turning raduis... Personally I would not bother. Not hard to drive them as made. And maybe driving an older car will make him a better driver and provide some...
