I had heard that that was the case, they just pulled the stock fender and did not drill the "typical" holes, same part becomes multiple suffixes based on the drilling pattern... similar for 68 GT's which needed the larger holes for the GT badge and removed the other two...

NPD got back to me. Test fit a setup off-the-shelf and said that one of the pins was a hair off, but could be installed with a slight effort or a swipe with a file would take care of it. On the clips they did note that a prior batch was mislabled and that has been corrected... all went...

So... asked around to some long time people in the hobby and there is no clear consensus. Ford did provide window stickers from the factory, so one would assume they were "standard" prices at the time of printing. However, there are many opinions that the prices did change thru the model...

Have the asphalt/jute backed lay-in type from NPD. Not a fan of Dynamat and other stick-on stuff. Always wonder what someone will do down the track if some rust appears or some fix is needed. Taking that stuff off does not look like a fun job...

I thought the spring loaded seal type cap was recalled. I don't know any date. Too easy to pop open and spill gas in an accident... I have seen numerous later versions with the cap and chain and "U" spring you fish into the filler neck. Maybe they were just reengineered for the service...

Its odd, it was definitely die cut, and fit well. Maybe some long-ago after market kit...

The OEM style pop-open cap, spring loaded seal, was recalled as a safety issue. So its a CYA for the manufacturer to avoid a lawyer suing them is someone has "issues". I'll ask my contact to look into it.

Yep, some funky lead that will be removed and replaced.

From NPD? What specific part numbers... I know thier Ford Parts Manager and can run it past him to check fit. Thanks for the heads up before dropping the coin...

Note the term "suggested retail" in your scan... :wink: I'll agree that Ford had a list, and suggested price, but I don't believe that it was cast in stone and never varied as I have seen drift in the numbers. But I have asked Kevin Marti for clarification... will post any reply I get from him.

The screws and silicone are two separate issues. Screws as I hate the way they look, and the silicone as I am always curious about how these cars were originally built. And I have done a bit of Shelby research for my EXP500 and have never before seen mention of this sealant in about 5-6 years...

Well, I didn't say that. Just the options prices were not fixed. But, I can't see why not... ? If they wanted to sell the car and someone wanted a $25 option add-on to seal the deal do you think they would say "no", or rework the numbers...:wink: Car prices back then were subject to...

From what I have seen prices varied by dealer and date... AFAIK there was no set-in-stone price set by Ford that dealers charged for any options or the base for the entire year across the country... seen a wide range of prices, usually as noted within a reasonable variation to be "close" Royal...

Anyone got an original with the silicone? I can show lots of pictures of newly restored cars and say things are "correct", that aren't... Saying MCA is gospel is fine, but I'd like to see something more as MCA does not clearly document much and leaves it to judges discretion and many of them...

Nope, have to pay an additional $40-ish for the emblem. Asked NPD and its some deal wiht Ford licensing. The base is the exact same part, but if you want the GT/CS emblem you have to pay extra for the base... looking for an alterantive. May just steel wool the original and try to paint the...
