1968 GT VS A Non GT California special.

Respectfully, no, on the post strike "requirement". I have a post strike Marti verified non-GT S code. While non-GT S codes are not the majority, they are reasonably common. I think most putting up the $ for the S engine probably wanted a bit more fun and would assume most would have gone...

1968 GT VS A Non GT California special.

Own two post strike '68 S codes. Convertible/C6, no GT. Coupe/4sp, GT. Built 6 days apart in mid December in San Jose...

    1968 Distributor and exhaust

+1 on the NPD setups for a stock look and function. Fit very well, good quality, used 3, and a very reasonable price. For the distributor Tim O'Connor does real nice work for a fair price. Come back looking pretty much new and recurved to factory specs (or whatever you specify)...

1968 68 CS... Salvaged title... Worth resotration?

Nothing personal, but I'd say to avoid the "normal" insurance companies like Farmers, State Farm, Allstate and stick to a classic car, agreed value policy. Most won't care about the title, as it makes no sense now to spend the coin to restore a collectable car and then try to make money...

1968 GT VS A Non GT California special.

Categorially, no. Common misbelief due to the "390GT" engine... folks assume the GT option is there, it ain't. The GT also deleted the engine size and Mustang fender script, replaced with the GT badge. Not sure how this was handled on the Cal Specials. The gas cap and hubcaps would be GT...

1968 68 CS... Salvaged title... Worth resotration?

Never understood why a salvage title is such a big deal to some. So it got damaged and repaired.. look at all the rust buckets, "non-salvaged", that are taken back to a firewall and a rear frame rail and "restored"... All it means is the insurance company figured it was not worth the coverage...

    1968 Info on engine stickers?

Gonna get dinged a point for that rad cap! And note the lack of the commonly used "Caution Fan" decal, which was not applied at the factory. A later safety recall item, which many believe to be correct...

    1968 Dual exhaust

Build sheet for a GT/CS would be rare. San Jose was very good at removing them from the cars, the vast majority I've seen are Dearborn and Metuchen cars... if it is your build sheet would be very interested in seeing a copy! As for how it left that factory, the Marti would document that. The...

    1968 Dual exhaust

Well, couldn't the dealer have added the Cougar style separate duals just as easily???

    1968 Headlamp switch testing

Have not seen a continuity test for the switch. Easiest would be one you have the harness in place (assuming all the wiring is there) just test it in the car. Its really not very hard to get in and out...

    1968 Stock Tire Height

What tire? F70-14, ~26.2" dia 6.95-14 ~25.3" dia 24" seems a bit small. Coker lists a lot of repros with sizes... http://www.cokertire.com/

How about the pad bezel? Still plastic chrome or argent?

    1968 '68 radio installation question ...

I call this the "Jackson-Barrett" syndrome. When folks sell a car they use a BJ price "comp" as a guide. Conversely when buying parts they find the absolute lowest price on Ebay and it becomes the "comp"... At $125 you did pretty good. Fair price for a hard to find part in good shape.

68 Horn Panel Bezel & Buttons

It's not really chrome, but vacuum deposition aluminum. There are a few shops that redo it. Done on dash parts, dome light bezels, and all the other plastic parts with "chrome". As noted most paints just don't cut it. There are new high tech chrome paints that supposedly do very well at...

    . Your thoughts on 64 1/2 Mustang

$30k to driver seems high, but hard to tell level of rust. But it does not look like it would be cheap. First thing I would do is remove all the clutter, give it a good basic cleaning, and more clearly document : 1. what you have and condition (what's under the hood now? Running? Is it, or...
