    1968 Taillight inner covers

Anyone got a photo of them out of the car and dimensions? Thinking I may just fab up a repro out of aluminum sheet for durability and just coat with black crinkle paint as my driver doesn't have them and I've decided to just "clean it up", not go nuts with another back to bare metal resto...

1968 Paul's GT/CS new book: Fog lights instalation question

Yes, there are a few pages on them, some photos and some exploded view drawings and pics of the parts and wiring.

    1968 fog lights circuit

Did you bench test the lights to see if they work before installing? The fog circuit is pretty much a one wire affair, so not much to go wrong... and yes, it could be the breaker, remove it from the circuit and just test the lights by bypassing to see if it is bad...

    1968 steering column

Stanger does great work, but there have been recent posts elsewhere with issues on turnaround. A typical story; one-man shop dedicated to doing-it-right gets some good press, things get busy, things get cranky when orders "take too long"... Randy does great work, I've used him in the past...

. Any Aussies received the new GT/CS guide yet

It is a good book. A bit of bloviating about some aspects, and some fluff, a few errors stand out (like implying dual exhaust on all CS's).... but worth adding to the library, if a bit pricey.

. Any Aussies received the new GT/CS guide yet

Get your book yet? I asked him to send to Florida instead of Cal due to the 5 week delay after cashing my check), after another week and a few more emails he finally sent them... and then whinged about the $24 shipping cost (I paid $228 for two books, if he sent them to Cal within 4 weeks he...

No vacuum controlled heater water shutoff valve on non-AC cars. Open loop.

    1968 Trunk lid fit

Ok, so its normal... thanks for clarifying...

    1968 Trunk lid fit

Noticed that the sides of the trunk lid bow up slightly along each side. The gutter/rear 1/4 line is about 1/4"-3/8" lower near the mid point of the trunk. Wondering if this is normal or if the lid may be bowing with age...

1968 Engine weight, alum. V. Cast Iron

Ford docs I have note 460-465 for most 289's, 465-475 for 302's, 510(w)/525(c) for 351's and 600 for the 390's. Weights are noted as "less alt, starter, belts, fan, and air cleaner. Also show 40 lb savings on cast iron vs aluminum for the 428's.

. Paul Newitt on Jay Leno's Garage May 25th

Has time to shill a book he refuses to send to those who have paid for it... interesting. No reply to emails either, thinking of filing a mail fraud charge with USPS and getting in touch with the Cal Attorney General's office... has time to cash a check the day he gets it, then...

. Any Aussies received the new GT/CS guide yet

Check was cashed April 22 (sent 19th) so promptly banked. Books have still not made it from Danville to San Jose in the month since he cashed the check... (a whole 50 miles or so...) Lame.... anyone know an email to contact him, as his site conveniently has only snail mail.

1968 Engine weight, alum. V. Cast Iron

Yes, but it just doesn't look as good as this; Go FE!!! I'd guess ~100lbs savings, I "can" lift my OEM 390 "S" intake, but its a fair weight and ya gotta be ready. The alloy Performer I put on I can lift easlily with one hand... I'd guess 50+ savings right there...

. Any Aussies received the new GT/CS guide yet

Nope, and I had a friend in California order it for me as I'm in the US now. Weeks ago. Pretty slack response time... hoping it shows up before I fly back.

1968 Is this the correct side view mirror?

The original post's link looks like the typical service replacement part commonly available (but getting harder to find) for the non-remote standard unit.

    28 or 31 Spline Rear

Yep, the X code I just bought shows discs as an option on the Marti.

    28 or 31 Spline Rear

Just a clarification... Not true in '68. Disc brakes were not mandatory with the S code that year. I have a '68 BOSE order Ford line filler with 390 and drums. Drums were a common option for many who were drag racing, less weight and less rolling reisistance.

1968 Need Feedback on Restoration Plans - Be Gentle

I find it interesting how many folks who want a "safe" car go for a "big engine" (e.g. fast) and manual... ;-) And 245's or bigger on the rear. Drums are fine for daily drivers, I'm pleasantly surprised by the ones in my CS, but discs are better... two words for "safer" ... drive slower...
